10th Annual Scene.org Awards - Public Choice voting
category: general [glöplog]
rez: yes, it's very ironic that all the nominees receive an automated mail notifying them.
gloom: it's the timing who is ironic/funny, not the fact I received these emails.
And as end to this new great scenedrama (one of the best isn't it?), I will quote again our dear Melwyn:
so as dubmood said, we are back to the initial state after 10 pages of heavy discussion, the only thing changed is that after all that drama it's clear that even it's allowed now we can't advertise in any away about our Scene.org Award nomination since people will ever think it's a kind of cheating because of our disproportionate "fame" on social media compared to other demoscene group.
I never wanted to cause any problem to Scene.org and to the Award team, I respect a lot all the great work they are doing every years, I just asked to be removed to avoid more dramas and possible thumbdown on my last year prod (like it happened last year - hello Puryx!).
I love you all, and I will use the famous Sanity's slogan:
DEMO OR DIE!
:)

please try to use common sense here. There's nothing wrong in advertising your production for being nominated for a Public Choice award and asking people to vote for it.

so in summary, it sounds like :
- asking for votes on facebook is fine (most people will have moved on to a video of a cat before they actually get around to voting anyway)
- if you win because you ran around the streets of your home town begging everyone to vote for you in exchange for a couple of werthers originals, it's fine but you're a duschbag and the win probably doesnt mean all that much - so it's up to you if you really want to do this
- making a script to create an account and generate a vote for your prod every time someone clicks on a video of a cat is not fine
the end. now lets all go watch an episode of neighbours and see some real drama.

no, video of a cat first!!!
what the hell, *everyone* seems to have got a "public's choice" nomination this year!?!?
maali: hang on, hang on! That depends ... is the cat cute?
Darn those sites stopping image hotlinking... :P
rez: I admit that my thumbdown on yur prod last time was somewhat stupid - I was angry with the attitude you guys presented at that time, together with the knowledge about the fake-accounts and bot-net attempts.
It still doesn't change the fact that in my opnion a production should speak for itself, and not need hyping - basically what smash wrote.

@puryx: well it's ok now, I understand well your point of view :)
No no no noooo.... don't you ruin the trolling and drama here by making up and being friends and stuff!
Well ok, if you want more drama we can still discuss about why my 64k isn't selected for "Best 64k" award when you see some pouet.net stats :)
But I already know the answer: pouet.net != demoscene != scene.org award
\:D/

basically because best 64k isn't public's choice, i suppose.
I'm sad this drama is over, was fun trolling with everyone again
lets skip the scene.org awards next year and do a pouet.net choice awards, with categories such as "most popular demo", "best scrolltext greetings" and "sexiest male".
smash: you just cherrypicked those three to grab for yourself!
gloom: no way! we never use scrolltexts.
someone should organize the demoscene equivalent of the razzies btw :)
reed: "The Boozies"? Boozembly is just outside Assembly after all :)
"The Neuropol Honorary Use Award".
what about organizing scene awards to counter the gloom awards?
i think it's an appropriate time to send fuckings to kewlers for never materializing the kewlie awards.
for best infodesk humping!
