open source pouet
category: residue [glöplog]
skrebble: if folks are smart they'll ask for feedback before submitting the pull request, and all in all its always better to discuss over rejected pull requests then to discuss over feature requests :)
I'm in favour of a new pouet as long as it looks the same ;)
it would be a shame to have it looking like something new and modern. even changing the preview button would be a bad thing... like the final version of cdak that no one likes.

/me likes the current design =)
you're always free to look up the pouet database from elsewhere and do your own front end. demozoo started that way.
that being said, selectable skins were one of the items on the todo list a few years back, and once that is set anyone could submit their own css style and such.

ps. good point. i must've been bitter when i wrote that comment, cause i already don't agree with it :)
Gargaj: If you are in fact rewriting Pouet from scratch after Revision, be sure to have a chat with Gasman there. We may have functionality and or/data that may be of mutual value. Either that, or just stop by #demozoo on ircnet whenever and we'll talk.
shame www.demobook.com is already taken!!!! [unlike]
www.couchscene.net is still available
It's true pouet needs a refresh, and more exposure for noteworthy demos on the homepage.
I think pouet needs more good demos, get to work :)
Pouet needs more trumpets!
The real problem is that Pouet was made entirely with Werkkzeug 8, which isn't released yet, so open sourcing Pouet wouldn't help.
Joghurt: I'm sure Sauron can help here...
Merge with demozoo? :P

and pouet's design is so 2000...
That's the best thing about it. It's simple and it kind of works.
Most demos are very 1995 so...
And seriously, what would lack on pouet? A super cool and actual design with cool js features and social buttons? "noooowaaaaay"

every prod needs social buttons, twitter and facebook all the way.
we can keep the actual design and just refresh it with some nice small css3 round borders for example :)
ha, and also a skin who works on mobile gears would be great too! pouet is hard to use on teh phone :D

pouet needs a rehauled robust, scalable, expandable codebase (without portuguese/french variable names and being scattered into a thousand files and EVERYTHING inlined and copypasted)
Yeah bla bla bla. No it does not. It needs to be open-sourced. Show us the porn dude.

Change the pouet design and you'll be in a world of pain!
rez: no it isn't. I never had problems browsing pouet with opera mobile.
well, when I see the awesome of troll here, I don't know if "opensource" pouet.net is a right idea :D
awesome AMOUNT of troll...
I accidently a word :|

i like pouet the way it is, i don't miss anything in it really. as a user i don't mind the internal spaghetti code, cause all i see from the outside is that it works fine, it's super fast and it does its job. are we missing any feature that we absolutely want to have? cause as for me you can save yourselves all the precious time that your are gonna invest to bring all the DB-cleaning and skin/css3 features that i'll never mind about. If you still want to do it, go ahead of course, it's your baby, but still... i like this deformed creature the way it is.
I also dislike the idea of rebuilding from scratch.
