The Gathering & Eastergarden 2012
category: parties [glöplog]
Hello Pouet.
Just calling to say that The Gathering 2012 will happen as usual this easter in Hamar, Norway. Website can be found at the usual place, http://www.gathering.org.
The democrew at The Gathering has a strong focus on demoscene outreach, and we try to reinvent the concept to appeal to the modern partygoer. Each year a handfull of very talented coders, graphics artists and music producers discover the demoscene and enter their first competitions at The Gathering. We sold 200 demoscene/creative tickets last year, and this year looks to be nothing short of that.
More oldschool and elite sceners are certainly also more than welcome, and we've done a few things to make it extra worthwhile:
* Heavily discounted tickets for demosceners in unlimited supply (~33 euros for no-seat tickets, ~105 euros for a permanent seat in the creative area. With a no-seat ticket you can still bring a laptop to the creative lounge)
* Big creative lounge area whith comfortable seating, big screen and ambience perfect for meeting other creative people.
* Eastergarden side-event at a club in central hamar
* The traditional demoscene competitions plus some new and exciting ones unique to TG, check out the full list at http://www.gathering.org/tg12/en/creative/competitions/
And yes, Eastergarden will also take place, this year in the form of a one-night event at Hydranten club scene in central Hamar, among other things featuring DJ-sets by Miu and Jennifer Lowpass. See http://www.eastergarden.net.
Elite sceners traveling from abroad can apply for travel support. This means we get to invite you on stage and make talk about yourself in one of our many demotalkshows. We're sure you won't mind.
Also feel free to bring a seminar and/or a kickass production :)
We can be reached at demo@gathering.org and #tg-creativia at EFnet.

Are remote entries accepted?
Maybe it's just a typo, but 105 euros for a ticket doesn't sound "heavily discounted" to me =)
It is, in Norway…

Strictly speaking no, but its just a matter of finding someone at the party willing to hand it in on your behalf.

It is compared to ordinary tickets. Ordinary tickets have also been sold out for months :)
britelite: I'd say that if you want to measure the discount, you'll have to compare two numbers.. :) The regular ticket is 990,- NOK and the creative ticket is 800,- NOK, meaning a 20% discount. I wouldn't say that's bad. Also, if you'd been quick, you could have gotten the "Foreigner ticket" which was 450,- NOK, almost a 50% discount. And hey, if you don't need to bring your big computer, you can get the no-seat-ticket (still) for 250,- NOK, which is 75% cheaper than a regular ticket. Not bad, I'd say :)
Duckers: any TG pc invitro this year?
didnt you see what ODD did?
maali: that was an onofficial revision pc invitro :)
(I would just like to note that I'm fighting hard with myself right now)
(who's winning?)
(charlie sheen.)

too bad i already booked flights to germany. ;)
will the compos at tg be streamed?
TG has a long history of streaming everything that happens on stage, and this year will be no different.
I'll get to see the (most of) the norwegian gang during summer at Solskogen.
However, let's all see if we can make the best compos at either party! :)

puryx - while i do agree with you - i still find you comment cheesy!!! :-)
rasmus: that's ok - I like you too! ;)
Hey folks,
We are actually running out of tickets for space in the Creative Lounge at TG12 so if you want to secure a seat please order before March 20th.
Creative no-seat-tikcets will be available in unlimited amount throughout the party.
(And no - there is no official invite (so far) this year. Whatever is released under the ODD label has certainly no affiliation what so ever with the TG or EG organizers)
