OJuice down again - Issue #54

category: general [glöplog]
They should get a reallife soon, so they can pay their bills every month.

Maybe it is time for a new newsfeeder in the general demosceneworld?

news.scene.org or so.. Nothing fancy just news and links to parties etc, not 10% of ojuice's featuers is used anymore anyways.

when did you start paying for using ojuice? oh, maybe you signed a quality-of-service agreement with them? or, stupid me, it might just be that it said somewhere in the signon-contract that they deliver uptime guarantees, right, eh?

no?

then shut the fuck up with your whining and be grateful that it exists in the first place.

And there _are_ other scene news services, like snn (though I don't visit that site regulary...).

You'd better help Ojuice team instead of trying to make fun from it.

right! can't do nothing either, since i can't reach chandra atm (and this wouldn't help either since i presume that he's working on the server problem anyway). in the meantime, check snn (http://snn.vantage.ch), scenespot, scene.pl, scenet.de, chscene.ch, scene.ru, noerror.org, scene.org or whatever other newssites there are.

nectarine will be up together with ojuice too. no requests possible, but dj randomly entertains your while the server is down.

And Dj Randomly rules.
scene.nl/bierbij - the only newssite you need.

OJuice & Nectarine are FREE services provided FREE of charge to the public.

They are provided at expense to the people who run them, out of their own pocket, and the pockets of donators.

People who don't quite understand this are extremely selfish, very immature or just not too bright.

Perhaps those who like to complain should think of donating something to the fund...

wasn't the scene dead? so why do we need news? :D

anyway, i like the sceners database in it, specially fields like "favorite pie" and "a last delirium".

and they have the best oneliner in the world.

i do agree though with a news.scene.org only devoted to news and incoming parties. sounds like a nice idea, and could be fairly easy to do.

No, the Scene is NOT dead and Ojuice is cool.

Ghandy: they lied to you, it really is. Since 1993 or so I heard.

*evil grin*

It has changed rapidly and became something worse with the years, but there is still something called Scene...

ghandy, you're a fool.

just to justify this: to my knowledge, SNN has never been down ;-) And, damn, you all are so fastidious that you can't live with 3 days ojuice downtime? bah, it's still sunny ouside, go out and enjoy! hehe

Frankly I don't give a shit about ojuice anymore. Before this sceneid thing and pouet grew big - sure it was great, everyone had updated profiles and the news where flooding..

Nowadays its usually down and nobody cares to post news on it exept for lamers like Ghandy and the like.

What I *do* want is a news system on a stable server with rss feed which both pouët and other scenesites can use, so you dont really have to visit that site to read the news, but you get it anyways. Obviously it should have good categories so you can filter out what news you want.

I wouldn't for instance mind to merge the newsposts on mac.scene.org that has "global" purpose (non localsite things) with a filter on an rss feed from a system where i could filter out only mac related stuff, and for instance demoparties which allows macs in the compos.

Generally *all* sceneid sites could use this and they would get a sceneid in the rss feed to who posted it and you can even automate profileviewing and messages etc in the local boards with that.

Anyone feel devoted to make such a thing? I'd sure help but scene.org staff seems to prefer php ;-)

gloom: You don't have a clue of sarcasm, do you? ;) Funny to see you complaining after my entry.

freeze: I still think his question is worth thy answer, how much DO you donate for keep ojuice running? You obviously seems to care enough to post about it begin down.
