Congrats :)
Cool, but why so late? :(
yeay congratz! using capped also nice! :)
Good luck!
Good luck!
\o/ i'll try to be there!
meeeh, I was already happy to have the ceremony hosted at Revision 2012 :'(
I think ASM is a fine place to have them.
I can understand the team doesnt want to jump in that boiling water which is TG vs REV again (plus they came up with a pretty nice compromise).
Keep in mind that ASM has a very fine internet infrastructure so the flawless streaming of the ceremony is almost guaranteed.
yay for sofascening! ;)

I like the moving around and it might even bring more sceners to Asm, which is definitely not a bad thing (cause Asm is pretty cool)
My only concern is that by that time of the year, the nominees might become pretty stale. :/
(Of course, there's always the option of moving Assembly to, say, Easter weekend!)
nice, to bad on not having it at revision :'(

We tried to get Assembly to move their dates, but unfortunately they didn't want to do that.Cool, but why so late? :(
(No, not really.)

because I tend to go to revision, and not to assembly. Do I get a cookie now?
So the correct response would be "That doesn't work for me" then, not "That's bad."
Congratulations to Smash for winning once again!
it would be kinda cool in theory if it moved every year to a different demoparty around Europe, but then, feeling for party orgos as well as award orgos, that would be an organizational headache . . .

That was the initial idea but after MS2k2 it stuck at BP and now it's actually happening! I hereby declare that we as Outline Organization happily volunteer to host the awards in 2013!

Can't really agree with you here, at least as long as the responsibilities are clearly defined between the hosting party and the scene.org organization. At the Gathering, the production of the awards was the responsibility of scene.org, while technical execution was the responsibility of the Gathering. Obviously, there were joint meetings and co-operation for both fields, but the ultimate responsibilities were always the same.
With such a model it should be quite all right for different parties to host the awards, provided one starts planning early enough.
On a personal note, I think it's a good thing that the awards moves around a bit.
Speaking for myself (and paraphrasing comments from other members of our team at the Gathering) I'd say that hosting the awards every year is something that we would be reluctant to do.
Hosting the awards this year was quite a strain on large portions of the Gathering crew, and it costs quite a lot of money. While we are happy to have done it, and proud of the result, we are also happy to let someone else do it in 2012. I think there's a real risk of losing motivation if we were to do it every year.
I believe that not doing it every year makes it more likely that we would be capable of doing the awards properly if we were to do it again in the future (which I personally would be happy to do).
yay! my observation wasn't impractical!
: D
I like the idea of the awards moving from party to party because then more regions of the scene get to feel part of things and maybe it stimulates more activity.
And yes, spreads the effort around.

its cool that it moves but im thinking it works a lot better at parties with say > 500 visitors, which rules out practically all the others.
asm sounds great to me actually. and it'd be cool to see parties try and outdo each other with the show.

well, maybe some of the smaller parties (in Europe, I mean) would become bigger if the awards were there . . . I'm sure some of them have room to grow . . .
I mean, what are the biggest parties other than ASM and TG and Rev?
I get a sense Evoke is rather large . . . what about Buenzli? Or even further east or south . . . or west to Main (which dammit, I want to go to after it returns)

The next step would be to announce each award at a different party and you would end up having scene.org awards during the whole year \o/
that would be kinda cool, but probably impractical, huh?
