Icons 2012

3rd edition of Icons will be held 21st of January 2012 in a cinema because we all know that the real demoparty is at the cinema!
Some highlights:
* We have a bar that will serve all sorts of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
* We have a real cinema with good audiovisual capabilities
* Enough competitions to satisfy you all (...and if you are not satisfied then contact organizers with your compo ideas!)
* Don't be afraid even tho the event itself is only one day long and you have long trip to the party place. There's other demoscene activity planned on Friday and Sunday in Helsinki.

* VJ demo
Create live demo visuals for live music.
Only 4 participants allowed. If you want to participate be quick and contact organizers!
* Demo and 1K intro
All platforms allowed!
* Music
Music compo, all styles allowed!
* Film & digital video
35mm, 16mm and super8 film is supported. If you want to go for newschool then digital formats are also supported.
* Photo and freestyle graphics
Entries will be shown on the walls of the venue throughout the party

...and remote participation to compos (excluding VJ demo :-)) is allowed!

im considering it. but, tight schedule with a conference in spain (i thought that was later in february but is the first week) where i have to do a keynote.. so maybe-maybe..
Maali: Of course you're coming because scientific studies shows that drinking one weekend of January in Finland results in better keynotes in Spain! [citation needed]

seems like a nice party tough alot of swedish parties to early and stuff, so will not go to Finland this time, thinking of going to ASM or Alt 2012 tough
altparty seems to be unlikely to happen in 2012, so that's a really great choice.
The 'probably' I was talking about at Kindergarden is very likely to become a 'FUCK YES!' in the near foreseeable future ^_^

And of course you could take the route I did, and start a party yourself. All you really need is a the burning desire to have one, and a room, especially if there won't be many people.

honestly, for me, the biggest selling point of any party is: will people I know be there. : D
I think it should be: "Will the people that I know, or the people, who I don't know yet but will have a lot of fun and form lasting friendships with, be there?"

metoikos: there are virtually no sceners in siberia, but i'm trying to fire up some spirit at local IT conferences, at work, making friends involved in doing stuff... but it's moving really slow.

600 = 300 to Moscow and back, +100 for visa, +100 to Europe (Helsinki) from Moscow and back, +party fee, +food, +living in all the places between. As for nuts: I had planned to visit Evoke 2010, but thanks to screwed up weather in european part of russia that summer ticket prices just for the "get to moscow" part of trip suddenly got as high up as ~700eur, completely unaffordable.

Ferris: 600€ two-way is nuts? I just checked and from Murcia (Spain) to Helsinki on 21st Jan, cheapest I found was 751,11€, one way... and we are in Europe, supposedly :-)
