category: parties [glöplog]
re Forcer: sorry, I am making the demo on my own.
And I have my own concept, so I have to make the graphics. Sorry.

re NA scene: We NEED MORE MUSICIANS, dare I say it! (This, from the land of the Five Musicians).

I know you're out there, even if I have to drag chiptuners in by the ear. And I really ought to help fill that void myself, what with eleven years of piano lessons, two different sets of voice lessons, and years in choirs under my belt . . . ought to make use of all that effort and money somehow, even if it has been so long since I touched a piano that I've forgotten how to play. I guess it's time to remember again. And get some tunes thought up. I guess I might have to -gasp- touch an electronic keyboard since I don't have access to a real piano. *sigh*

re t-zero: I hope it does awesome, shall seek it out when I can.
We do need more musicians. In fact, the scene in general does, and I never thought I'd say that. This is a whole separate topic (about how there used to be basically one main outlet for people making music on computers and releasing it online - the demo/tracking scene - and now there are lots more), but... hell of a difference from the mid/late-90s!

I dunno, the Assembly music compo (to pick an example) seemed rather long.

In my view, the NA scene needs more demogroups, and it is a bit coder-heavy as far as I can see so far.
compared to the need for more top-level PC coders and good artists, the need for more musicians is negligable. :)

hee hee hee

: )
I do think that the common skillsets of active sceners in different regions are slightly different though.

In Europe, there seem to be . . . almost too many musicians, based on what I've seen and heard of compo submissions. Although not enough people with production skills, I might hesistantly put forward, but perhaps I am too much influenced by my teachers : D

Anyway, the emphasis here is that I and others need to stir up folks with the applicable skills over here and either tell or remind them there is a scene to be part of and it didn't end with Second Reality.
Or you could cut the pouet jabber and get cracking :D

ain't jabbering. was in between productiveness. but anyway.

bye.
Regarding the "more musicians in NA" thing why aren't you promoting more here? or here? There are plenty of very good ones in the USA and Canada.

There was a thread about chiptunes on something awful and the only europeans that got mentioned were 4mat and Syphus. So many dudes in the States have no idea there is more.

There are a lot of musicians in NA, just look at results from @party. There were a lot of entries which means a lot of people are making music.... no? ;)
Certain people who are coding also make music so it's all good.

4mat, I can't speak for others but my thoughts on much of the US chiptune scene are unprintable. You (in particular) can probably guess why.

4mat we have done promotions at blipfest and there was a demoparty at magfest but ive been focused on events not websites. thanks for the poke. i admit i am allergic to hipsters t-zero (guessing your subtext), but my theory is they wouldnt come to a demoparty.
re okkie, among the stuff im doing (fresh off th @party advisory board meeting talking about it) is applying to grants so i can bring scene ambassadors, inc performers, from europe and elsewhere. failing that, sponsorship may help . . . we'll see what shakes.out.
There was a demoparty at MAGFest? That's news to me, I thought they'd just done a showcase of demo-music! When did that happen?

by the way, if any European sceners who are also chiptuners show up at NYC blipfest this year, it would be great to meet.
metoikos - I thought Nuropo was planned but didn't actually happen?
