function 2011 :: 2011sep16-18 :: budapest hungary
category: parties [glöplog]
to Forint.
Both compo machines are win7 so I wonder how 256b compo will be held. win7-64 lacks compatibility in execution model while win7-32 doesn't support basic graphics modes (at least without videodriver tricks).
digimind: we have XP machines and we can crossboot to native DOS.
support question answered in just 1 minute 8 seconds?? it's like a dream world, but in reality :)
I hope that everyone has a good time.
Thank you Function 2011 organizers! I have some inkling of how hard you're working on this and how stressed you are.
People like you do a LOT to keep the scene alive, whether running your own party, or helping with others, or advising folks new to the scene, and I know it.
You are awesome.

From what I've seen sofar, the organisers out here appear to be pretty much free of stress so far. When I left the partyplace about half an hour ago, there's was only a couple of handfulls of visitors though, so maybe things will get more hectic once things really get going. Luckily, this weekend, unlike the previous one, I'm just a visitor, so I'm just gonna keep on enjoying Hungarian hospitality :)
havoc: gewoon cheapo booze halen bij de supermarkt aan de overkant van die vage weg en function wordt een enorme bliss :DDD
oh, en wellicht heb je poolse hash nodig in combinatie... zijn die riverwash mafkezen er weer? :)
will there be a livestream tomorrow? (can't find infos about that)
afaik only an audiostream via scenesat.com is available since the tubes at the partyplace are not fat enough to deliver a visual experience for outsiders!
Oh, c'mon! Livestream's not tough on bandwidth! We want to seeeeee~
maali, aan de overkant van de straat zie ik geen suoermarkten?! of bedoel je ca. een kilometer verderop bij die dwarsstraat cq plein oid?
The party ad slides for Tokyo demo fest are awesome :D
Yahaaaa! We finally made it! :)
listning to the scenesat stream =)
Another awesome edition of Function. Thanks a lot orgas, was a great weekend! :)
Thanks for voting. That was a good party.
Still listening to the stream now... Topy, Ferris and Gargaj are adding some nice comments, indeed... :P It'll be up on reLive as soon as the show is over, for sure. :)
Had to do other things today, but am listening on relive. Enjoying story hour with Gargaj and Ferris very very much.
Thanks for having allowed for remote entries.
Thank you for the party!

First of all, a massive thanks to the organizers of Function for hosting this truely amazing party. Everyone should really consider going there to experience the fantastic atmosphere and the awesome venue!
Here is a list of reasons why you would definately want to visit Function next year:
The partyplace in general!
Sleeping facilities
Shower facilities
The Kiosk - I really need to elaborate a bit on this!
First of all, the prices are - compared to western european parties - really cheap. The sandwiches are exotic but extremely delicious! The service of the non-english speaking women is simply fantastic. Smiling, laughing and trying their best to explain, point and write prices on a calculator to assist forreigners That kiosk simply had everything one could possibly want. Warm pizzas, ham/cheese-breads, sandwiches, beer, water, soda, chocolate, free coffee and I'm sure there's a ton more, I just weren't able to understand :)
Then there's the outside-facilities. They were great as well. Lots of chairs, tables and ashtrays everywhere. Even a king-size chess-game on the ground (never thought this sentence would cross anyone's lips, but as it turns out, people can get too drunk to play chess) :D
Attending a party in eastern Europe is really a different experience from western europe parties. People are almost never inside the hall and hardly anyone seems to be franticly trying to beat a deadline. Everyone seems to have their entries taken care of well in advance, thereby having more time to enjoy the social aspects of the party and that really is a bonus!
The hungarian people are really polite and welcoming, and if you end up in a situation where you need help, everyone will gladly step up and provide you with whatever help you need.
Another reason everyone should consider attending Function next year, is the great location of the party. It's in a suburban area with a broad variety of shopping-possibilites (never tried it - I lived from the Kiosk throughout the party) The weather (at least compared to scandinavia) is really great - warm but not too hot and the sun was shining throughout the entire party. It was fantastic to wake up saturday morning, walk out and grab one of those teeny-tiny cups of coffee, go out to the back-yard, where the sun had just risen and sit down and have a cigarette! My description probably doesn't halfway explain the joy and relaxation I felt, but I hope you all get the point.
Getting to the party-location from the airport was quite easy too. A reasonably priced 15-20 minute taxi-ride and you're there.
Now for the only bad thing I experienced - and to be honest, it didn't have anything to do with the organizing. When going from the party to the airport, I didn't know which terminal to go to. Apparently, they're 5 km. apart, but as I told the taxi-driver which company I was travelling with, he knew which terminal I should depart from. NOT! I was dropped off at the wrong terminal and had to locate an ATM since I donated my last Forints as a tip to the taxi-driver (man how he just didn't desserve that) ;)
Everything worked out and I reached my flight back home, so it really wasn't that big a deal. Just a good tip for anyone attending next year: Know which terminal your plane departs from ;)
Beside the huge thanks to the organizers, a great thank to all the other participants of Function. I really had a blast, and if it's in any way possible, I'll be back next year - hopefully with a handfull of other danes :)
