It's been 12 years since OverSeas'99.
So... Yes, we are planning a demoparty in Brazil and it will occur on 12/2011. We still have no name for it, but I'd like to announce about this event earlier so you guys can save some money to party with us. ;)

It's a nice opportunity to visit our country, know our culture and demoparty!

If you want foreign people to visit just make sure the party is near an international airport. Cause Brazil is about 48% of South America, you know?

Don't worry. We are thinking about Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo. :)
Rio seems to be the best place so far. It's a very touristically attractive place.

I would very much like to network with demosceners in South America (and in fact, in all the areas where I don't have contacts yet).

Definitely worth cramming some Portuguese into my brain. I run a demoparty in Massachusetts, USA (ran a one-day in Montreal as well, want to work up to a real event), and really want to network with other folks from regions with less visible/centralized scene activity.

As for comments like "but dont expect foreign visitors on a first time party. unless its very close to a border of an active scene country and / or have money to give away" this may be true for people in regions with many parties, but every @party of the two so far has had foreign visitors, including the first (thanks CTrix!)

and that he mailed me last year about a new edition of flashparty (or a new event that was being planned to replace it, but that i guess also didnt occur in the end). but i lost that mail in a mail b0rk incident so i have no contact with him anymore.

Well, 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 are Saturdays... you know, most people are not working these days. I am guessing this is an all day party, right? :)

I'm not loving the New Year's idea because airfare is more likely to be ruinous. I'd rather take time off work and be able to afford airfare. Especially because we want to go to Revision this year too . . . : (
