LulzSec is killing the internet.

category: offtopic [glöplog]
Maybe, but probably not for long. They've announced that they're quitting after 50 days. Good. http://pastebin.com/1znEGmHa

Their defacement of PBS.org seems somewhat familiar designwise, or is it just me?

Yeah.. they are quitting after 50 days. That reminds me of the 50 Unit A cracks and the end of Unit A.

Unlikely, seems to contain, at least partially, false info: http://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/i9d06/no_longer_a_mystery_why_lulzsec_retired_huge/c21yyos

The internet killed Lulzsec ... who'd have thunk it?

Might be more accurate to say "Meh killed Lulzsec"?

are they into marketing now?

Yes. They promoted their hosting company a lot too, because it was coming under heavy attack yet remained accessible (and very fast too - clearly the hosting company deserved the praise!)

hahaha...they used Bitcoins as donations? A fully transparent payment method where everyone can see who transacted to who? :D

from my understanding of it, the bitcoins are traceable as in you can see where they've been, but all you really get is a number. It's like bank accounts, the money can be traced, but if you trace it to a numbered swiss account you'll find it hard to track down the owner.

He sounds nervous on the phone. Like he's packing to move out to some country without extradition arrangements with the USA.

I also wonder what happens to their bitcoin accounts if they get caught.

I also wonder if the prosecutors know what bitcoins are.

Especially imagining that with the knowledge that the "Pedobear" was once a target for investigation in a few U.S. areas.....

Reading the IRC logs from their channel before the HBGary leak is cringeworthy. It's like reading a Hackers(the movie) slash fanfiction.

I wouldn't really care if it wasn't for them DDOSing the Heroes of Newerth servers for a couple of weeks. Low..
