So, are demos art?
category: general [glöplog]
demoscene, can also be a ressource for genetics engineering, due to mind state shared, it's genetically modified brains that we build, except demos are Art, demoscene can progress in giving genetic materials for people.
as another art.
I think they are a way to a new art. Some demos are actual art, some others are not (some are beautiful and advanced, but not art). Some may not be so advanced, but are art. But the demoscene is definitely a way to a new art form.
Last, define art. Shit. Art is... art.

the secret will not stay longer anymore unconceivable. we are mind explorers of women assholes.
cat's purr permits to evacuate pain. cats are dual of humans and women asshole is the link with great orgasms in birth of children by respect. we create respect for women asshole and more we are the engineers of orgasms. I've started more my studies about since 2005 where I've lead some project on demoscene by my telepathies. we create appropriate mind state as chevalery for women. a genius is born with orgasms of his mother. demos are a passtime for cats inspiring demosceners in this world of nonsenses. shivers are set by dolphins in cooperation of cats. there is two fundamentals : animals do not kill in same specy, and humans have killed humans. and cat are taprisiotes of all animal power in this world.

I've worked for CIA in death explorations and I'm diseased of cancer and they permits me to live longer when I make introspections with animals to concrete powers. CIA brings demoscene.

a fart is an art. there you go.
1995.
farts are the effect of your dead rigid body on your corpse and movements.

Then I truly am going to be the first smelly, rich artiste in known history. I'm working on a new piece right now. ;)
My artwork can be seen (or rather smelt - it's performance based!) @ my gallery just before Number 2's, Flatulencia Lane, Methaneville.
*parp*!
@ Bartoshe - um no, that's decay.
hehe
Not art - just a messy bedroom in the Tate Gallery. Otherwise known as taking the piss...
What does it mean again, "art"? Is that a word? Is it of any use? What is it good for? What does it look like? Does it smell? Is it big? Is it loud? Does it fly?
What, you can't answer any of these? Why do you push a word like that on us then? A word that means nothing!! This is a waste of brain matter!!!
STOP WASTING OUR TIME!!!!!!!
Incidentally, the only actual question is: Is "art" a demo?

So, i games you take the control, you have to shoot things or solve puzzles
See? There you have it! Art is: when you shoot things or solve puzzles. Why didn't you say that right away? Why confuse us with all that crap? It's all so simple if you stop confusing us!
Prods such as slideshows can be art, they're just delivered in the form of a prod.
Demos can have art in them, but aren't works of art in themselves. Compare with art films or art photos. We could call them art demos, but when all is said and done what makes someone watch a demo is completely different from what makes someone watch an exhibit, and the experiences are very different too.
It's better to aspire to an awesomer demo experience than trying to somehow "raise" (or lower) demos to the totally different Art culture which has a different but partly overlapping set of values and aims.
Tattoos, quilts or pottery will always be closer to art than demos. Demos don't need to be high art, I enjoy high art much and enjoy demos more ;)
The hand-made, designed by humans content in demos will always be art, but demos are the container in which it is delivered and experienced. Therefore demos can only contain art.
Demos have something else that film also partly has: by combining art the right way, you can create fleeting moods and impressions that evoke much more emotions than the pieces of art by themselves. Especially in combination with the right audio. So demos can be a multimedia superset of art, but there are many examples of demos with nothing or very little art in them giving the same awesome experience. The latter is the perfect example why demos are not art.

You haven't understood that "art" doesn't mean anything.
Art is something made by someone that provokes an emotional reaction. It's the simplest definition of art that I know.
And a good demo always makes me feel something, so yes, once again, demos are art. ^^
Well, lots of things can provoke an emotional reaction. A winning lottery ticket can provoke joy. A speech by Sarkozy definitely provokes anger. That doesn't make them art. I find your definition way too inclusive.
demoscene is an underground art.
Well, I'm on the third floor.
