Outline 2011
category: parties [glöplog]
Punqtured : We're having the setup as previous years with the same audio gear, and we're not using any compressors/limiters/equalizers.
It's up to the people that make/play music to make it sound good.
And btw for good audio you don't need the biggest installation, you should know that.
I don't think we have a problem with that.

punqtured hasn't been to Outline before, so my guess is that he doesn't remember the setup :)
The problem is, he's basically asking for a frequency response chart or somesuch, while the best we could possibly deliver is a basic specsheet which isn't going to give him the data he wants. And if he wants to adapt his entry to the audio setup, he's forgetting about voters who might listen to the tune on their headphones via the partynet, or downloaders who play it at home on their €25 PC speakerset, or or or. In that sense, I support D-Force's opinion, ie. that competing musicians should make entries that will sound good regardless of the chosen audio equipment.
Also, it's 3 days before the party, we have stuff going on with far higher priority at the moment. So I'm afraid this is the best answer we can offer at this point.

mute everything but bass, that'll work.
havoc: your serious demeanor suits you very well
Rowley : did you get my FB mail with shop-info & stuff ?
Any c64-sceners coming to Outline? Could you please bring along a X1541-cable or something similar to help me out with an entry I'm working on?
I would love to test something but I don't have such a cable (yet)

but, even more important than the home-listeners and setup. A lot/most of the participants at Outline will be under the influence of alcohol and probably not paying attention to the level of work done to suit the PA.
But the matter of pleasing the creator, is a completely different story ..

Or you're in search for a reason of blame if the music entry was totally booo-ed away by the audience.
^^ d-force is speaking from a wealth of personal experience here! \o/
franky: yes, but still gotta implement it somehow
plafke: better now, you silly swede? :)

I was saying "boo-urns".
PLEASE DA LOOOOOOORD-AH
Wow - I didn't aim at causing such a fuss or to have someone go through stacks of paper for a spec. It was just a nice-to-know thing if someone had it right on top of their mind :-)
Considering how Okkie's stellar aura will mess up the acoustics of mid-sized party hall, I don't think this'll be an audiophile's compo anyway.

that's awesome. i'm not sure that i'd call a mobile-version of a webpage "an app". but it works.
I'm just rehashing the hype, don't even have a smartphone myself ;)

Deadline for all saturday compos is at 12:00 (noon) indeed. Some more time for fixing entries may be allowed after this time on a case-by-case basis, but you are expected to coordinate this with the compo crew beforehand. A testversion is often an argument that helps convince the compocrew your entry won't cause too much last minute stress. So by all means: talk to the compo guys (D-Force, TheMatch, Numtek) if you are planning to release.
