Um.. How about the early times, when you couldn't really fit a full rip of something, you had to remake it?

Kefrens Megademo 8 includes a mod.. I think it's by Nightlight... It's called Chicago Song, and is identical to the commercial track Chicago Song by David Sandborn.

Apparently Exploder "ripped" the music for his victorious Humus 4k series (including Humus 5 aka Rebirth which was released at Asm this year and was disqualified after being awarded the first prize).

Oh and This is how we party by M.a.d. Software was probably the first demo to use a ripped MP3 soundtrack, it's a goa tune by The Green Nuns of the Revolution, credited to the group's musician. No one ever complained.

Wait, some of these mentioned tracks that maybe used a sample from a song. Are we talking extended/sequenced loops or does ANY sample qualify? If that's the case, that's half the songs ever done. Everyone's taken a drum loop or sampled a drumkit from a cd or whatever at one point. geez...

The tune from "You are completely anonymous" by Monkeyman and Xeron is a remix of "The Macarena" featuring actual samples from the original tune.

The track in Rebirth is actually Overdrive by Ron van den Beuken.
The Anus Praeter song in Andromus is called Be Yourself (the filename might be a hint :)
