Scene.org Awards 2011
category: parties [glöplog]
you even need feedback on clapping?
I wannna know how bob did! I was out on a drunk. how did bob do?
dubmood: you mean running the stuff? that went pretty smooth.
Gotto love Netpoet's presentation! Thanks again sir.
dubmood: bob actually saved the best tech achievement award's presentation because despite the fact that smash was in the hall, for some reason the awards desired to act like he really wasn't.
I don't know what happened there, but I don't care honestly. it was so much fun!

Wow. Interesting selection. I don't complain :-) Of course Smash/Destop would have deserve most of the awards, but on the other hand, it would render the whole award thing pretty boring.
jooo: hunz been a scener since the trackers age in the nineties. check his releases under five musicians and solo stuff. more recent albums at his homepage.
about time someone made a kick ass demo with his tracks. well worth the award and recognition.

scene.org is offline/unavailable from the party.
I'll stop complaining then. Ceasefire is a great demo and fits the track very well, it definitely deserved an award.

publics choice is publics choice. thumbs of for rez :)

rasmus you make me full of joy :')
100e for psycho and rrrrrrrrrrola. Anyone? :)
Thanks to everyone involved and being with us for another year! What comes to Public Choice - it was a fair vote, but it surely wouldn't hurt to have more people voting next time. As the countdown during the show didn't have the nominees in right order, I'm making an exception and posting the actual order for Public Choice category here:
- Insert No Coins by Razor 1911
- Agenda Circling Forth by CNCD & Fairlight
- YouShould by Haujobb
- Happiness is Around the Bend by Andromeda Software Development
- Cdak by Quite & Orange
- Snapshot by Glance
- FR-043: Rove by Farbrausch
- Grind by Dekadence & Accession
- FR-063: Magellan by Farbrausch
- Talk Talk 2 - The Church of Excellence in Art by Excellence in Art
Melwyn: could u also publish THE number of votes?
Nice that you keep doing the scene awards, though I'm very sad Ino by Quite didn't win.
Really enjoyed watching the stream at Revision!
Good stuff, got all my predictions right apart from one...
Still trying to find where the "graphics" are in FR-063: Magellan :-)

It's not about a certain "Public choice" award? :D
No, it was about the award for graphics.
A little bird had told me before where the public choice award would go to so I was mentally prepared (bloodshot eyes, foam around the mouth etc. :-))

thanks for the great show. you know i really had my doubts about it going to tg. but i'lll tell you this: the production was superb. the effort by the crew, filming/editing and so on - everyone seemed happy just to be a part of it. and the audience was large and interested.
two other bonuses:
- greaat afterparty at eastergarden
- after the awards, some 16 year old kids came up to me and started to ask questions about how to get started in coding demos etc. this is something i never understood about the gathering before: its importance as a breeding ground for future demosceners.

@smash: congrats for all your awards, nice to see that a coder/musician ruled so much :)
@navis: hahaha, that holy little bird :)
I was prepared for a massive scene drama about the public choice award results but I was surprised that lots of people at Revision was ok with it.

scene.org should just have followed the trsac tradition and painted that particular bird black...
Btw, Netpoet looked a bit annoyed when he announced the result of this specific award :D

Harsh words from Mr. Planar Mapping :)
come on, I'm not critical of Magellan - the graphics serve that demo just fine.
The "graphics" category has always been a mystery to me. The awards team says that it is about the areas of "static images/textures and 3D models static or otherwise". But what the hell, every single other demo had these qualities at a much higher level and quantity.
This is not because the Farbrausch guys did a poor job, I'll say this again. This is because of the requirements of the demo itself: to be frank, a show of a (very very good) effect in the middle of a static spaceship room. You don't *need* that many "graphics" do you? While on the other hand, you do need them when you are dealing with complex cityscapes (Finally inside), animated dogs and humans with muscles (Agenda), or even space operas (Rove).
For the first time in 8(?) years or awards I really don't get it. Take my enquiry as honest; as a demomaker I'm always interested in learning what makes people "tick".
