I don't see why you couldn't stream from a disk. Just mention that in the infofile and/or give a requirement for the streaming speed so people know if their 2x cd-rom drives can't handle the demo.

Another example: Mobile Destination Unknown/Spaceballs streamed vector data off the disk on Amiga in 1993.
