do you think the sound in demoparties is too loud?

In short: we (a bunch of french sceners) think the sound it too loud (at least @BP + @MAIN).
Of course, you can go outside; but if you want/need to be inside (in order to finish your release for example) it will be hard for your ears (even with earplugs).
And it's becoming one of the main reasons NOT to come to a demoparty.
So: are we the only ones to think that the loud sound is just annoying in big parties? does the sound need to be so loud when there is no compo?

Can't see the problem. I got an ear-damage when I was a child, causing loud noise to feel like sharp needles being punched into my left ear, but I know the sound will be loud at parties, so I take my precautions and wear earplugs or keep my headphones on during music.
The loud music - both during and between compos - is part of the partyexperience and I wouldn't want it anyway else!
Either you should go somewhere else when trying to concentrate or finish your productions ahead of the party. That way, you'd have more time to booze and eventually, you won't even notice the loud music from the main stage :)

Good point wullon. Yes, it depends on which party. The reason perhaps is to keep us awake, working.

1. Because you need a certain level of sound pressure to _feel_ the bass, as opposed to just hearing it.
2. Because Steel will never shut up when he's drinking.
3. Because Darklite will never shut up when they're drinking.
4. Because Brainstorm will never shut up when they're drinking.
5. Because the danes won't stop stomping their feet when you play music with bass.
But mostly #1.
It's not about wearing earplugs. It's about wearing hearplugs, a closed headphone and still having damages because the sound is all-day long.

The sound has to be that loud. Otherwise, the people who were there the year before and are now deaf can't hear it.
