Bugging you with Windows version of my game this time around
category: general [glöplog]
I completed the Windows version. Directsound and Directinput gave me a bit of trouble so
let me know if sound and gamepad work for you.
The readme file will give you the details.
It's a remake of a NES game, so it's meant to be played with a gamepad.
Any feedback is welcomed.

win7 x64, Geforce 285GTX (driver: 258.69), Audigy 2.0, 3 Gig RAM, unfortunately no gamepad :-(
sound & graphics work well in 1920x1080. nice performance and everything...
one issue though: when switching resolution with keyboard keys, there is no effect when single-clicking "up" or "down", seems like only auto-repeat messages (actually, don't even know how you detect key pressing) are taken into account.

That's normal behavior for the resolution widget. I don't listen to key repeat.
Most other counter widget increment on key press. But because this one has big values, I activated the
scroll scheme which is time based. Maybe I should increase the scrolling speed or
leave it as is and add an acceleration variable.
Nice too hear it works well on a high resolution. I can't test that on my monitor.

Used to love very much that game, I'll check that out ASAP!
Didnt find the download link for win32, had to guess the url :)
Win7 32 / C2D E8400 / GTX260, working, sound.
1280*960 @ 3000 fps.
Since I have 2 adapters and 3 screens I managed to get 5040*1050 by editing the config.
without aero I get 30fps at that res (it's the blitting on the second board that causes the drop).
with aero I get 300 fps. Weird.
with wide view the game acts vert-, should probably be horz+, but I didnt bother to edit the ratio.
seems well done and well coded!

@ HeLLoWorld : So you couldn't see the links? Strange. This happened to me last night. I logged in my site account but all was fine. I had to clear the browser cache and restart Firefox.
I was wondering if someone would try the max resolution. Guess I'll increase the maximum.
5040 eh, that is huge. At least you didn't go over 9000 :)
You guys have beasts machines. Must be nice to run the latest demos. When I started working on my game
I was using the onboard gfx of my Nforce4 board. Now I have a 9400 GT.

i tried it. couldn't figure out the keys and thought it was kinda ugly and sounded harsh.
sorry for not having anything positive to report ...

Controls with a (modern) gamepad are quite useless and glitchy... Using the analog stick on my xbox gamepad would result on not having diagonal movements (while the opponents would have them), plus, response was not good at all.
Otherwise, it works ok :-)

@rasmus : no biggy, there are enough games out there for everyone.
@Jcl: Were you able to map the 4 directions of the analog stick in the controls setup?

No! Its too late! I don't want a windows version now. Make an Oric Atmos version.
duffman: yes, and they worked... just not at the same time. Wouldn't take "up and left" as diagonal, and would do either go up, go left, or do nothing... the response (or lack of) was getting on my nerves and I quit after 2 minutes :)
btw, this is off my mind, but the ID of the "mapped keys" was something like... 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, or something like that. That's for an USB connected xbox controller
Jcl: Ok thanks, I know what to fix now for the diagonal issue. For the response I'll have to get my hands on a 360 controller. I have a USB Dual Shock and it works ok. But I did notice a small delay between the Linux and Windows version.
duffman: I got mine refurbished for something like $15, should be easy to find really cheap :-)
