But even with a prerendered video is it technically possible to use the high resolution at the center combined with a full screen display? Put another way is there a way to take advantage of the additional pixels in the center?

I have no idea how this might work. For example are we supposed to play a 320x178 video synchronized with a full screen 960x89 video in the background? Or one 320x178 video plus two 400x89 videos playing on the sides? Or one giant 1920x178 video with the appropriate pixels being dropped by the controller?

possible, but not supported by the compo rules

the rules are very easy and due possible technical problems NOT changeable ...

There will be a HUGESCREEN Compo again, just the compo prices are doubled ...

The Rules :

- playing time max. 5 min
- the demo must run on Windows or a single AVI
- if executable the demo must quit on key ESC
- writing on disk permanently is not permitted
- if executable must have a windowed 960 x 89 version
- if avi it must be a 960x89/25fps single AVI file
- provide an avi (not mp4 not mpg not wmv AVI!) version (960x89) use uncompressed or huffyuv or mjpeg codecs

well, lapin kulta isn't anymore what it used to be since they moved the factories, but sure we can get some for true lapland party.

That's actually that expensive to take a TGV ticket a week before you leave. Trains can be reserved two months in advance, cheap tickets are numbered, you gotta be fast else you pay full price.
