scene music stolen
category: music [glöplog]
@rez : p'tain :/
Downloaded and verified that I indeed have a track in that app.
"Hollow", from Razor chipdisk #3 (2003)
Curiously, recognized as a track from "tPORt", which by the looks of Google is "one the leading WEB teams" in the Russian scene. I can't remember that I ever gave permission for them to use the track either, so it's theft upon theft in my case :D
I'll send Apple a note when I get back from work tonight, methinks.

lug00ber, send it to itunesmarketing@apple.com directly, because that's the adress i was given when i filed in the first complain. :)
thanks for the tip :)
meanwhile, maybe sceners with access can rank it bad?
hehe yea, it contains my worst smalltune ever as track1186.
nice collection though, and i've earned fairly enough with producing music commercially to not give a fuck to the $2 / month the uploader gains with this collection with my crappy tune in it, i'm not outraged, but for the show, the uploader might as well spend the annual $24 on experimental stomach cancer medicines.

oh btw. the track "Lenina 58" made by Mephizto and me in like 2000 (using FT2 and some guitar riffs played by our fellow friend, KcG:) was allegedly out on some hungarian downtempo collection (at least with proper titling), later ABC television in the US used it as a backgrounding music during an interview with some basketball player. lolz.
falken just told me about this other app

same shit

Hmm. For me, the "Module Player" app crosses the line away from blatant copyright abuse, and into "a bit lame that they're charging for it when so much other stuff in the tracker world is free, but otherwise legitimate". The key difference is that you're paying for the player app (i.e. the work that the programmer has done), not for a pack of songs. Whether that work is worth $2.99 is debatable, but that's for the market to decide.
Also, presumably the tracks are being loaded on demand from the modland FTP, not distributed as part of the app store download, which makes it difficult to argue that the app author is infringing copyright.

looks like a different game to me. that certain "keygen music"-site hosts modded files - the credits for most of the tunes are blanked out.
what I mean with simular is, more or less the same collection of songs from mostly russian groups using songs without permission and often lacks credits
I don't give a shit about the money (my track in the app is available for free download both in the chipdisk and from last.fm), but I don't like people making money off my work, regardless of the sum.
If the app/music pack was free I wouldn't mind at all, but I draw the line when people charge for my work without my consent.
