There was also a good soccer-managing game called "Soccer-a-round" (the executable file was named pdsoc.exe) coded in Quick Basic. Google does not know anything about it...
In 1986 or something, I bought a copy of "50 Greatest Games" on the Spectrum. 50 games on one 30 minute tape. Of course, they were all in basic, but one game "Diamond Jump" was mint!
It was another variation of the barrel jumping game. You were a little stick character and you had to go up a hill jumping over the diamonds rolling down it. I remember playing it for hours and wondering, as ten year olds do, why haven't I finished this game yet? So, a quick press of the break key and a look through the code showed me that it was just looping the damn code. My first "hack" was to make a damn end screen for that game :)

This if it were real.
@r13 - it looks like that was it after all. Barrel/Diamond jump ftw :)
oh wait, Mystical Diamonds - that was the bastard right there LOL
kb: I got your game to run fine in dosbox with qbasic -- wasn't expecting to hear decent chipmusic in basic :-)
