L---G-aga, how much more awareness is necessary? It is not some topic you barely hear about, it is in the news ALL THE TIME! ...at least I think so, because I don't watch tv, but one has to live behind the moon to not have heard about it...

L--G-aga, well, maybe I think so... I don't know what is going on in the heads of the rest of mankind, but the people who are affected by this "oil-catastrophe" are consumers, and consumers have TVs, cars, refrigerators and buy stuff that is packed in plastic.
WE NEED OIL! If we like it or not. We are addicts of that black drug if we want it or not. I too would like the world to change, that we all drive around in environment-friendly future-cars and care more about the planet.
Just by the way, my ecological footprint is substandard, because I already are very "greenie" (not political...)
The "worst" things left that make me also a hypocrite is my car and my pc (which is on all the time)
Raising awareness is good, but people only change their behaviour if they are concerned directly or when the pressure of their suffering is strong enough.

At the moment, people are more interested in soccer and barbecue than saving the planet. We are stupid, naked monkeys who only want to fuck.
One of the worst things one can do nowadays is having children, because one creates ANOTHER consumer who will also help destroying the environment.
But since I am also an ignorant bastard that wants to fuck and someday having children, I am the Hypocrite of the year!
Oh, yes, and I love this car:

It's all very good to be aware of it - what you do even only on a personal scale is what counts. I'm with you emu - I'd like to think I put in more than I consume & for what I do consume I try to leave as little left over as possible.
