euskal 2010??
category: parties [glöplog]
it seems i don't know something. is such a thing exists?
yes, http://www.euskalencounter.org/en/
So, it's just turned out to be a lan-party?
ton: not more than other years
is there going to be a demo compo? we might pop in if time permits
there appears to be a "scene" section on its website. with nice cryptic puta-english that makes you go rrriiioooght...
yeah, that scene section is rather confusing - is it just a demoshow or there will be a compo aswell?
tom: compos don't seem to have been announced yet... all "actividades" sections seem to be quite empty
Expect the usual combined demo-4k-64k-hq-mod-wild and the unofficial low-end tune+gfx compos. Last year they were announced pretty late which made some sceners not to go.
@Navis: Are you planning to go this year? Would be nice to meet you again.
I might go. Just because stg7 needs some loving.
*g*
PS: some cash is fine too.

*hugs stg7*
the funny thing is that i was pretty sure euskal is dead for a 5 years or so until i've read that popular blog named iconoclash.
is that only me, but neither i remember anybody announcing it here in the news, nor on the demoparty.net... orgas are not interested in visitors? =))))
nice to hear it's alive.

I'll go and try to convince a couple of my friends in ASD to come, assuming there is a compo. How soon will we know?
so any news on that? Is there an organizer in here?
the most confusing thing about euskal since years now is that you really had to reserve your seat before may if you want to take part in it on july. And yes, 5000 gamers and only a few sceners now I guess.
whot? reserve seat if you want to take part in the compo? Don't remember to have done that last time. Is it so?
Well, I went for the last times to euskal around 2004 / 2005 , and since 2002 or so, there is a reservation system on their website, in which you see all remaining available seats, click one of them and pay your place. They usually sell all the seats in 2 or three weeks, and 96 or 99% are for gaming competition.
As a matter of fact, the organizers always stated that "some" seats were kept in priority for sceners, so that the gamers inscription rush would not complicate the scener inscription. Until 2005, I managed to enter the euskal by bothering the orgas some weeks before, but it was complicated (there was also some bank account and id cards issues, because the euskal inscription system was based on spain's id card number.).
you can read on their site:
> Reservations open at 17:00 pm on Wednesday 17th February.
... to me, it means all seats must be reserved. can be wrong.
WTF 45 euros ???

any question to olatz [at) euskalencounter [dot) org of course
> whot? reserve seat if you want to take part in the compo?
to be clear: you have to reserve a seat to make sure you can come with your computer, ... to take part in the compo without going to the party or just visiting one day, it may be easier.

@Navis: Just send a mail to Olatz and she will give you the seats.
There are always a few seats reserved for sceners, as Krabob said.

Compos are in: check link.
Also, some may be glad to know that sole^xplsv is conducting the scene part this year. Thanks! She also said at escena.org that you may expect a Win7 64-bit compo machine, so take it into account when making your prods.
See you there!

Hi all!
I just sent the updated+translated compo rules to Olatz a few hours ago, she might probably have turned off the computer for the week-end, so you might want to wait until Monday for the English translation.
Or use google translate, if you dare ;)
But basically the changes for this year are the following:
- We accept any executable platform for the executable compos (demos, intros, game). This includes browsers and retro machines.
- Due to low participation in previous years we've had to merge the 4k and 64k compos. It's now called Open Intro Compo, and you can submit anything up to 64k.
- We've got two new compos: Games and Flash Animation.
- And finally, Renoise is allowed in the tracked compo! (only samples and internal effects, of course)
We would love to have as much of you people to come here. I know it's slightly late for buying plane tickets, but if you haven't decided on a summer party yet, why not try Euskal? We'll have the hard core of the Portuguese scene, I've heard maybe mighty Iq will be there and even mightier Navis has announced publicly he'll be there, with a demo! Plus, Bilbao is truly beautiful, there's amazing food to be had and some artsy stuff to go and visit in the town if you have some time left. Or you can join Navis and go to the beach!
If you can't visit us, we are accepting remote entries in all compos except music and wild compo, which traditionally are pretty overcrowded.
Also, we are still finalising the compo machine specs, but as stage7 mentioned it will probably have Windows 7 64 bits.
Any questions, suggestions, ideas...? Obviously post them here, pop by the euskal forums, escena.org forums or send me an email (sole ..... euskalencounter.org)
