It was the attitude of the teachers that got under my skin the most. "Apple is the best." "Only Apple makes useful computers." "If you use anything else you've been brainwashed." This same attitude remains constant with the current crop of Apple users

There was also a "Mac Lab" in my high school. The guy running it had the single most condescending attitude I've ever met in my entire life. (And every time we went their we forced to sit through 15 minutes learning how to use the mouse.)

And as far as Quake on one button goes, it's a non-argument for me. I don't play games and therefore don't care if it's better on one button or two dozen buttons.

Apple rocks, because they make your family happy and poor.

This difference is I avoid Apple and use "non-Apple products" *without* being evangelical towards others about "non-Apple products". Seriously, if you like Apple, go ahead and have fun, but don't call me stupid/brainwashed/close-minded/sheep-like/etc just because I avoid Apple (and the mentality that is evidently bundled with their products).

(For the record, during my Amiga days I never uttered a bad word about the Atari ST. The people I knew who had one used it for its built-in MIDI port. Fair enough.)

look.. a mac is a pc running another OS - plain and simple. There is no 'mentality' or 'cult', there are just a bunch of assholes who like using that OS and think it's better, same as the bunch of assholes that like Windows or Linux, and think those OS'es are better.

plaf, I'm sorry and I agree that a Mac IS a PC, however some don't see it, and they think their Mac has the best hardware available and that it makes it better, and this is what I personally hate, ignorant Mac users, that think that because they have the best Mac, they have the fastest PC and that we should all bow to their feet because they bought a 3000$ PC that's not even on par with current 3000$ PC, if that makes any sense haha

as long as apple fanboys dont hijack planes and fly them into high buildings (quite unlikely scenario, planes have too many buttons for the average mac user) i cannot see any problem. also, the 'it just works'-slogan applies on apple products cos 99% of the functionalities are missing... first hand experience, i have an iphone and noticed a 4yo nokia has more use than it. so yeah, im part of the 'i dont like apple products (yet), but dont try to turn me over'-kind of persons. it's the evangelist hysteria that makes i+* users total tossers, imho.
