Why is 'The popular demo' so popular ?

category: general [glöplog]
I think its because of the name
popular demo gets all the popularity
winnerdemo wins...

but really why ?

fr025: it has a tune that applies to the masses (quality pop); and it has overal "polish" (quality graphics, subtle glow/reflection, small particles etc.).

and it runs acceptable on every pc

its benchmark, maybe?
execution is superclassy and the style and music are nicely "Middle of the Road" for everyone :)

competition == none

well done FR
because we are all popwhores craving for cheap music and lowclass entertainment

(hurrah for fr! hurrah hurrah hurrah!)

oh, and it would even be more popular if the lyrics where actually in german..

'heute nacht, heute nacht, alles ist im bewegung.. ich kan der schwerkraft nicht mehr fullen.

heute nacht, heute nacht, was ist dieses potion, das macht einer idiot von mir.

heute nacht, heute nacht, ich sehe schterren, ich bin blind mit liebe..

heute nacht, heute nacht wir sind venus und mars, ansehen von auf oben...'

jesus my german is shitpoor :)

and being sung by David Hasselhoff ofcourse....

and ofcourse being cheesy 80's synthrock instead of disco and the demo would feature a dancing mister Hasselhoff instead of a discoball man...

...man.. then it'd be SUPER MEGA POPULAR!

btw. - the.popular.demo lost nearly 15% popularity during the big pouet crash :)

an interesting mainstream demo for the masses. Kind of britneyspear-as-a-demo but it's from Farbrausch. It's like if a kind of obscure but very creative band would have done a super pop song to prove they can do it too.

It's popular because we all like entertainment...sometimes.

It's second reality with a guy walking and dancing like he has a fist up his ass. That's why!

The glow effect plays an important role, as it (probably) increases the amount of pleasure many people experience when watching it.
Of course, the rest of the visual design and the music are chosen to have the greatest "net-appeal", when summing up how much which type of people like it.
And finally, the technical aspect is, of course, very well done, so even people who think that the result is too MTVish, can still respect the code behind it.

Basically, I think Farb-Rausch chose every aspect of the demo in a way that everyone would like at least somewhat.
And as the "top 10" show, they suceeded.

It's the solid proof that popular stuff rules.

mjz: 025 was much less designed to please a wide audience than people tend to believe.
019 was much more like that. after all the flaming about the visuals in fr-08 i was kind of pissed and decided, if people need to have shiny, abstract objects rotating in the middle of the screen to recognize something as a demo, so be it. 025 developed much more naturally.

I wouldn't even dare to compare the two in terms of quality. WinnerDemo only won because of this little something called 'genuine German distaste'. Most Germans are distasteful sons of bitches. FR stands out, among a relatively few others.

heh, yeah! 'Winnerdemo' is like cheap german porn where the.popular.demo is seriously poppy.
