Not really. It is a really great lecture.
I really hate that guy for always using "we", effectively including himself into achievements and crimes of his fathers generation. How can one be proud of levelling entire cities, effectively killing hundreds of thousands of people?
The war of beams is surely interesting. But in the end not much of relevance for the silicon valley came out of the RRL. They ignored semiconductors because they thought vacuum tubes were sufficient. In the end, Bell and telephone switching applications were the drivers for the semiconductor revelution and hence the silicon valley.
