@Navis: Sorry, that doc is old. I took an old one just to remember the structure, removed some stuff, forgot to remove some others (half of it says volume rendering, the other global illumination, mixed). I didn't knew back then wikipedia is not a reference :)

@ Bp103 : that's a sculpture by feminist artist louise bourgeois. she's capturing the image of her mother and chooses the symbol of the spider, because it is a weaving animal (her parents restaurated old carpets) who protects her children. here's an image of the artist herself (currently 98 and still working):
