Agenda Circling Forth - soundtrack discussion

insectecutor, you think it should be allowed to totally steal someone elses work without crediting, or you think it should be allowed to have illegal content in demos which could potentially get party organizers in trouble? or fuck it.. you think both are just fine?

gotta love it

xerxes: why would demoparties have to be more policed than the whole intarweb ?

nowadays most web/video/file hosting services allow any potentially copyright-infringing content in so far as they can't humanly or automatically check all the stuff : they provide just a form to rightholders so that they can officially demand a removal of contentious content.

why would the responsability of party organizers be bigger than those ?

that's the way to limit creativity as little as possible.

because party organizers give a shit, unlike rapidshare.

Gargaj: can't they just relax ? :p

the notion that party organisers can somehow limit the creativity of demomakers is so fucking ridiculous, it makes me wanna poop on zest's head.

what gargaj says. and because the demo scene generally holds itself to certain standards. isnt this why we still push ourselves to excel within set limitations.. like 4k and max size for demos? i think the same standards should apply to music. but.. this can be discussed. just stealing music should be banned without exception..i really can not see how anyone can be ok with this.

rapidshare was rumoured a few weeks back to be under negotiations to scheme up a mafiaa compliance deal of sorts. bad example.

I like how there are like four different discussions in this thread and people keep eightfiguring back and forth in these.

Let me sum it up real quick for yall foxes and cats out there!

- Sampling is great and the copyright rules should be loosened and less retarded.
- You should give credit to the people you sample from though and be a bit humble about it
- Some people find sampled music to be less creative, this is their opinion.
- Some people find self composed 'preset house' terrible, this is their opinion.
- Demo parties can get in trouble because of sampled music though, because of said retarded copyright laws.
- So we have to be nice and make sure not to release anything that can get the awesome organizers of demo parties into trouble, even though we should not be limited in our art. This is just the way it is.

There, was that so hard?

And please, pay a bit more respect to Timbaland, he's only human.
Meanwhile, somewhere in greece, Vangelis sits at home at his PC (pobably a Mac) watching the video some guy named Smash send him. And he's thinking: "That's a freaky tech demo!"

Timbaland owns!

(proof)

Oh, and can somebody tell me if it's a c64 used in this track?

hey amusic, isn't Vangelis living somewhere close to your holiday home in Volos?

i would ask that Europe saves Greece from financial collapse at the sole condition that Vangelis says yes to smash's request.

Yela is a weird one, but I like "Trunk Muzik" more than I expected I would :)

It's better than anything Asher Roth has done (Except the track with B.o.B. which is actually kinda balling)

That whole B.o.B vs Bobby Ray mixtape is pretty good actually.

Also check the new Chiddy Bang mixtape and listen to everything from 2econd Class Citizen.

There! Proper stuff in this thread! (And Chiddy Bang steal other people's music, make beats out of it and rap over them! :O)

haha, ok will check those out thanks for the tips, i love getting recommendations on new music :)

as far as the sampling issue goes, well i like to think that i have some level of _creative_ sampling personaly, in the case of the Agenda soundtrack, it sure is fun searching for those eclectic and obscure sources that you can use and twist up into a new song, but i feel personaly that not enough was done with the source material here to justify it even being a remix.

having said all that, i do like the new edit, and i couldnt imagine the demo with any other soundtrack :) as far as crediting goes, yes credit should be aknowledged somehow, i am guilty a few times of forgetting to name my sample sources though, but i do try to when i remember :)
