Who would want to get into UK intelligence crap stuff just for visiting a demoparty?
I'd loooove to visit Main this year but yeah, it's a bit far from Finland :(

Uncle-X: Shiphool Airport is nice, if there just weren´t those tiny smoker-boxes which should have written sth like "CANCER-guaranty Inside!" on em !
( they should have some terrace for smokers ! )

but maybe we can have a party in one of those, i guess we can fit like 30 ppl in there ! without computers ofcoz !
it's pretty easy to get to frankfurt/bingen by all kinds of airtravel... that's a big thing...

Breakpoint replacement party needs to be in NL or DE else a hell of a lot of sceners won't bother attending. UK is too far for a lot of people. I guess the only alternative now is Evoke?

and we don't need another UK party.. Sundown fills that gap already.
A new Easter party will happen. Yes, it's likely to be in North France, Belgium, Netherlands or Germany - but I wouldn't discount the UK completely out of hand.

Uk would be okay, only if very close ta ryanair airport, and with a good bus service.
If you're renting a car and never drove the wrong side, consider the replacement of left mirror in your renting budget. :)

the word from the gathering is that "alcohol will always be banned at the gathering due to the nature of the event".. if that's what you meant..

not a problem for me, personally, but I know it'll leave a bunch of sceners out (you all suck)

combining what scamp said during the price giving and random rumours:

- as scamp said, 70% of the organizing team wants to continue
- there is already one guy (styx) who is getting trained on this stuff and had major responsibilities during this party
- there will be meetings on how to continue
- the party needs at least 50k eur backup money
- as scamp said, there will be meetings soon which tackle this
- rumour: tum and evoke don't want to handle this large amount of people and responsibilities

- so people, i think this whole thing is traded carefully. Maybe even more carefully than ppl thought before the last BP.

what gargaj said, having multiple parties organized by unexperienced orgas would be a total horror scenario. i'm a party organizer myself and the effort behind this is unbelievable. people and orga newbies would easily shoot themselfes... really.

- please, don't do something on your own unless you really KNOW what YOU do.

why not stay in Bingen? Or move back to Fallingbostel? Everyone should know these locations by now..

merkur:

There is a simple rule of thumb: The main organizer of an easter party has to live where the location is. This is so that he can use his local network, but most importantly: To be known with the city council and politics. Especially when it comes to easter weekend in Germany: There are laws (whose strictness vary by state) that forbid any kind of leisure activity (dancing, music, entertainment, movies, sports) on easter friday and sunday. Working around them is very hard, as politicians know that supporting a demo party on this weekend could get them killed by the catholics. Remember: In Bingen, it took as SEVEN YEARS until politicians weren't afraid any more of supporting us doing this over easter in public - before we'd been only "tolerated".

So it's not a matter of "knowing" locations. There are no active party organizers in or near Fallingbostel for a decade now, so that's out of question. Bingen most likely is out of question, too, as the Rundsporthalle is about the only suitable location in this area, and returning to it would be all but a fresh start.

In other words: Suggesting any kind of location anywhere is pretty useless unless there is a competent, experienced scener living there who has the time and financial resources to be the main organizer of the new event. The first step before searching a location therefore is to find potential main organizers.

I just want to put to bed any suggestion of it being in the UK. It would be convenient for me, but 1) it's an island. 2) it's expensive, 3) there's only about 30 of us whom i could describe as "active". and that's pushing it.

Somewhere in central Europe...
