Phred- or, people have to let go of the democratic notion that the majority should have the power to control and dominate the culture of minorities.
As for me, I don't care if my culture is the minority, because actually it is—I'm an atheist in a christian country. But I don't care, except to the extent that there are laws passed to turn atheists into second-class citizens who can't, for example, participate in government in all the ways that christians can.

I understand your sentiment Phred, we have a large problem here in Australia with illegal immigrants but... over here they get called "detainees" and are placed in locked facilities in the middle of nowhere or offshore. Essentially treated as prisoners with no other crime committed apart from (for most) escaping a really fucked way of life to come some-where 'better'. Having said that, many refugees pay Indonesian and Malayan people-smugglers large amounts of money to try to get here - so they are not without resources. No easy solution but governments have to have a strong and enforceable legislation to deal with refugees and people-smugglers alike.
