havoc: ah, cool. soo what about if i shout BOOO to the obvious c64 winner entry and explain that it's FRIGGIN UGLY even though the code may be good?

like, "THE PC SCENE MADE THOSE EFFECTS IN 1994 ALREADY WHAT ARE YOU BRATS WASTING YOUR TIME ON???" and such. would that be cool, too, on X2004?

skrebbel, hmm don't you have less boring stuff to do at parties? like drinking beer or so? anyway, if you insist on pointing out the obvious, i won't object... :)

It should be really simple to get people to come to Utah for a demoparty, just get mr.Maddox on stage (shouldnt be to hard, he has his roots from "demoscene" IRC channels) -could be great fun ;-)

That would be excellent :)

havoc, ah cool. i was just trying to figure out if the atmosphere at such parties wouldn't be some total anti-pc-scener thing in a similar ways as most cool (whatever the platform) demoparties are anti-gamer, cause in that case i'd be quite out of place.

SirG: Pilgrimage 2003 rules were posted 1 month before the compo as this page clearly shows, not "one week" as you claimed.

As explained before, Pilgrimage 2003 was basically a one-man organizing effort done by myself. If I had been employed, it would have fallen apart due to lack of my time. Anyone who thinks organizing a demo party that included all the elements of Pilgrimage 2003 is easy should just go ahead and try it and then they will learn how much work is involved.

As it was, I had more important things than compo rules to do until about 4 weeks before the event because our space cancelled on us at the last minute. Which would you rather have, rules way in advance and a cancelled party due to lack of space, or rules 1 month before a party that actually happenned?

I suggest you read this book.

Blah. Whatever. It's no big deal, really... :)

This time around they Compo Rules have been posted 4 months in advance, after much deliberation. Woo-hoo!

I've also heard word that UT2600 is sponsoring one of their Scavenger Hunts at Pilgrimage, too! More details on that soon.

Skrebbel, you survived Altparty isn't it? No worries then :)

ah! perfect! only disadvantage is that it's only a week before bcn. ahwell x has beds so i should be able to keep going :)

Yep, beds are included in the (65 euro all inclusive) fee, and they're pretty decent quality. Coincidentally, the X2004 partyplace is one of the places I checked out for Outline2004 as well. The locations are only ~15km apart and very similar in many respects.

BTW, I have to admit I haven't visited the new X or Altparty yet, but some organisers of both events were present at Outline and I'm pretty sure we have similar ideas about organising such events. :)

I think I am going to to take the flight to mormon city and get drunk in public because I refuse to pay the high entrance fee. If I get arrested I am going to sue the party organizers, because they forced me to get drunk outside.

Yup, thanks Gargaj for adding the Pilgrimage03 photos and to Dipswitch for adding the trax10year photos, too... :)

just looked over the compo rules ... glad to see them posted, some thoughts though.

what about separate categories for (atleast) tracked and nontracked/mp3 music ... i also wouldn't mind a separate music for 8bit machine category.

and how about a non-pc demo category, some of us like working with older machines still ,)

nullsleep: There was a mailing set up quite some time ago to bitch and whine about compo rules. You missed your chance.

Actually...

If enough music interest is generated by potential Pilgrimage attendees (registered on ojuice.net or otherwise), there is a strong likelihood that the existing Music Compo will be split into a tracked and non-tracked/open category, but not too much more granular than that (this year atleast).

As for the non-PC type stuff, that will probably fall into our unofficial Wild Compo. As long the 'wild' hardware can successfully hook up to the LCD projector, it's all good. ;-)

Are you really getting Maddox to Utah???? Uh-oh! Look at the bottom of this page: http://maddox.xmission.com/litter.html

Oh, wait a moment, he already lives in Utah. Well, that makes me understand why he is so angry about stuff.
