I just thumbed down pouet.

So, the title "attention whore" got on me. I maybe deserve it. Even if I am less frequently writing and have to open a stupid thread since a long, I still get one comment like this, also big posts of text and reference to 155 I's. Yes,. it's my ego, I know it, I read this thing, it maybe a bit new-agish but talks abotu my brain and our brain. It's the same thing that happens that makes us all do what we do. And we bitch around for minimal things. We have a virus in our head. But it's not good or bad. It's just is. Whatever,. it feels somehow when they say it's all about attention. The thing is that even if I stop writting on pouet and then one day write one comment, there is a slight posibility someone will say something that feels negative to me, like that I am attention whore or that I have to shut the fuck up. So, what do I do? Even if I stop doing what I did on the past with pouet will make no much difference, then I think I should be bitching with pouet. Because if you try to show a good face and you still get the comments sometimes, more frequently just because you happened to have the nickname Optimus, it makes you a bit mad. I am not that mad though, I am used a bit, no hard feelings. It just cripples me that I am now officialy an "attention whore" whatever I do. Sometimes I avoid to speak at pouet..

I also opened Otinanum, regreted it and reopened it again because of a test with myself. We have that ego, with all the past experiences, personality, memories,. it makes me get hurt by the thought of releasing a demo where I try my best but get stupid comments. So,. Otinanum was the opposite experience, let myself release intentionally some crap and try to accept the massive pastes of texts of me and pictures of scheisse. It is still, I will do something with it. Maybe it will evolve in something less shitty yet still a free expression. It's to cure my ego, to not care about the comments and about releasing a genuinly bad demo.
I tell you one thing. I adore people like Solo2 because there is a funny thing with them. And one thing I'd wish I have. It seems like the keep releasing crap and getting such ton of negative comments, yet they continue like they are not caring. They do what is their free expression without giving a fuck. It's like that nothing can touch them and they have free expression whatever it means. I can't do that. I failed with Otinanum once. The next time was a bit more ease. But still I fight my ego..

pouet, the demoscene and the demos released are not rights, they are privileges - and they wont exist forever. im afraid the scene as a whole has gone down a bad road: the confidence of our youth, once justified by our productivity and creativity, is now unjustified arrogance and unrealistic expectation. lets face it, it's only a very small number of great pieces that stand miles above the general level of detritus that flows out of the scene year on year these days. little wonder there's a lot of bad comments.
these days pouet is often not a pleasant place to release a production. it's so self-defeating. the people who are making stuff (especially good stuff) have a lot of other outlets and a lot of other places to show off their work: youtube, vimeo, blogs, etc. you can get as many, if not more, views and comments from those routes and reach a wider audience. often those comments are more constructive; if not, at least they're openly and honestly idiotic (youtube, im looking at you) and easy to ignore.
there's this strange dynamic on pouet where people here feel like they are part of the process and part of the scene, so they have more rights - like they're entitled to have their opinion heard and they're entitled to get the demos they want to see made for them. they laugh at youtube users for being random internet idiots without realising that (in the case of at least 90% of users) they are exactly the same as them. it's even worse on pouet because a lot of comments feel targeted - "i need to bring you down because you might be better than me". now thats the very essence of a bitchy comment.

Oh smash, you're such a harbinger of misery :-) Where would we be without the french onomatopoeia of trumpets? Everyone's acting like the scene is dead just because breakpoint is ending. All I know is that Evoke 2011 will be fucking huge. I'm not bored of coding yet and nor should you be. As for flames on pouet.. I genuinely enjoy reading them.. they make me laugh.
