Demovibes - electronic grooves from the bigscreen

category: music [glöplog]
Concerning the kkowboy track, MD made a new version released under merck records. Should've asked if you could've used it in your mix :)
Great mix tho, well-placed transitions

what i really don't like is that the Wonder soundtrack is soo not properly sounding... :(

its not just wonder, most of the tracks are lower volume/quality then on the demos.

please atleast pass it through a limiter next time willbe :/ on speakers you almost cant notice it but on headphones it's quite noticable that most of the tracks are downgraded..

ps:
mastering already mastered musics could result in a real crappy result...
tho, I agree with the sound quality but notice that some of the mixed musics are already really low on quality. The sumo lounge music is originally lamed at 64 kbps to fit in 1,8 Mb.

In fact, the state-of-the-art thing would have been to get the file in wav file (ok ok, fucking bandwitdh requested) or at least at 192kbps.

We all can understand how much mastering is useful. however, Willbe did a great job IMHO. starting from (sometimes) crappy sound sources with almost no mastering possible while linking them in a decent manner is not so easy. ;)

(a french supporting another french ;) )

It is very interesting in the beginning, but gets gradually more bland to the end. :/ i wonder whether this is the right way to do compilations.

if it's sounding worse on the mix then on the actual demo i cant accept it beeing a good job. some of the tracks on the demos are unmastered mods, how the hell can they end up sounding worse?
i like willbe personally alot, he's been my ex-groupmate, we worked together on prods in the past and i like him alot as a friend, i also like this mix aswell, i even burned it on cd. but its a fact that it could have been mastered better. i listen to it on headphones and i notice that on the demos it sounded better on stereo panning and volume..

Yop :)
About the volume of the overall mix, in fact i *did* use a limiter, but i carefuly cared about not maximizing it at its higher level, avoiding distorsion artefacts. After all, Demovibes is an ambient compilation, not a heavy dance or rock one. It's mainly designed to chill out peacefully while doing other things.
About "how it sounds", i guess it's a matter of taste basically, because i usually don't release anything until i get satisfied myself, and trust me, i take my time for that.
Anyway, for both problems, all your sound systems (walkmans, CD players, etc) have EQ correction in order to sound how you want it to. And there's a volume button also ;)

Lol! I have not even downloaded it yet, but the first two music choices in the list already convince me that I will like it.

Willbe, do you have a burn of the original uncompressed mix? Perhaps a WAV file? Any chance you could put that on scene.org for folks who dislike the re-compression artifcacts some of these songs have?

Awesome mix though. Very professional.

A footnote to the above request...a lossless codec like FLAC (http://flac.sourceforge.net/) would decrease the original file silze by about half.

Little bug in the CUE file: there should be a space between FILE and "demovi ..."

At least, that's how i got it working :)
