Limit of frames in an animated gif?

category: offtopic [glöplog]
Amazing. I am just downloading the most senseless gif and it's gonna take 6 hours here :P

@masterm :
you should (or someone who is crazy enough to download a 922 mb of a useless gif) try to open that file in gifmoviegear and use optimize feature (which will replace some pixels with transparency, remove redundant frames and reduce palette size).
i'm curious to see if it will make a signifiant size improvement.

psonice: It's kind of 'proof of concept'. That does not imply it makes sense. ;)
tigrou: Significant improvement. About 100mb now. Will upload at night.

almost 1:9 compression. wow! i'm impressed by how far it can get with really simple tricks (i mean without motion compensation, DCT and all rest...)
