Last week, I watched Full Metal Jacket and really enjoyed it.
Now i'm searching similar stuff and hesitating between apocalypse now and platoon ...
Did someone have seen one of these and can tell me which one is the best? (or maybe another one not listed here)

Also i remembered a scene in a movie were a soldier shoot a handicapped son in front of his mom...
Did someone know from which movie it come from ?

You should see all of them - Apocalypse now, Platoon and Deer Hunter. Then, when you're done, go for:

Band of Brothers - Best. Ever. In any category.

Generation Kill - Not Best.

And then there's upcoming "The Pacific"

Oh, and of course Black Hawk Down :)

Gods and Generals is a low budget prequel to 'Gettysburg'. I would suggest that instead.

I cant believe noone has mentioned The Thin Red Line

also: you have to watch Apocalypse Now Redux after seeing Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse again!
Dodge...fuck you man, you mentioned Stalingrad I was gonna mention that :(

Also...Soviet/Russian Movie, 9th Company... maybe not the most realistic piece but i liked it.

Personally, I wouldn't watch platoon. I really did not like that movie. Did fetch an awesome sample from it however: and when the machine breaks down, we break down

low budget? Ted Turner (you know, the billionaire) productions don't make 'low budget' stuff. Watch it. It's maybe one of the biggest civil war re-enactments ever of the years 1861-1863.

@Deus: yeah, and fuck you, too! Posting takes a little time when you trying to provide trailer stuff - mind your freakin' tounge, would you?

no one mentioned "Saving Private Ryan" yet? it's not as much an anti war movie as others but it's a good war movie for sure

Want to experience how ugly war is? Come and see.

(I've watched it once, one time was enough)
