Some lyrics sound quite ironic, like that new games can never have the thrill of old ones...
But nice anyway, whether it is intended to be ironic or not.

mjz, they can't! new games are all ripoffs of old games!
I tend to disagree. This is about as true as that all new movies are rip offs of old movies or that new books are just new versions of old books. That may even be true to a certain degree, but newer games have better graphics, more advanced sounds, and in some cases, like Spellcraft, even new concepts. I think many people that grew up with the old games simply think they are "better" because at that time they were something new, something special. If you had had today's games back then, you would favor those, I am quite sure of that.
At least that is the only reason I see why I like Command&Conquer 1 so much, since it was the first real computer game I played a lot, even though e.g. C&C Generals or Warcraft 3 are better in almost any aspect.

mjz: if you seriously believe what you wrote, you're probably what the australians refer to as a "tonker". I feel your pain. Oh wait, no I don't :)
As fas as the link goes, it's like our very own Video Killed The Radio Star, isn't it? :)

mjz: you probably never went through jetpac =)
Well, I still think that most people that started with playing today's computer games will not say that older computer games were better. What I wrote is the most likely reason I see why someone would still play an old game when there are new ones.
This is my opinion, and I think that newer games are, nevertheless, generally better than old ones.
But, can you describe why you think older games are better than new ones?

great clip ^__^
mjz: Indeed, playing games you've played when you were younger gives you the thrill you had when you discovered them.
But playing to games you played when the home computers were at their very beginning gives you even more thrill because the whole thing ( having a computer and playing video games ) was new and exciting.

it's all about nostalgia of first loves ;)
nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
I lost interest in video games when they went 3D.
At any rate, cool music video.

Easy.
I prefer arcade-style 2D games. 3D games, RPGs, and sports games never interested me when they were 8-bit, 16-bit, or 32-bit. Now that 99.9% of games are 3D, RPGs, or sports, I just don't give a shit. (And I'm not interested in "portable gaming.")
I don't see how new games that don't interest me can be better than old games that did.
I don't think anyone gives a shit about what you find intresting or not, if the majority of people likes 3d games, they simply are better games, since obviously people enjoyes them most. Wich is what games is all about, having fun.
Personally i think you just havent tried enough 3d games to find anything you like, personally i like lots of them, i just dont enjoy spending money on games and warezing games is .. Well.. Annoying :)

arneweisse: i could not disagree more. 3d games are a "progress", that's true, because they were impossible a while ago. But they rarely bring the sparking ideas of the early 2d games. Many popular 2D titles (Lemmings etc.) did not survive transition to 3d because it was a nonsense.
About a half of the games i own are 3D games, which is definately less than a market share.
That said, i think thom has to try some of the arcade 3D games these days - such as Crash Bandicoot Warped. I myself already have, and was not convinced. The next thing i try is Sonic games on the Dreamcast.
But hey, RPGs rule. They are the only replacement for the died out genre of Quest these days.
