How come Colour 14 has like 10 more thumbs up votes than anything else? It's gonna remain on the #1 spot forever, it seems. It seems like every French guy votes for these prods. :( 5 demos out of the top 10 for Windows are French.

I don't think it's about French people and their voting-habits, but rather the voting-system of pouët.net, and the excessive amount of great demos that people have more or less forgotten about...

but the fact that c14 are getting more votes than other recent and great prods like heaven7 and fr08 are a bit mindboggling to say the least...

yes, it think it's odd too, i mean sure c14 is nice, but not THE nicest :)
maybe a voting system where you can only vote once and on a scale like 1-5. I mean i put a 'rulez' on demos which i think is good but i also put a 'rulez' on demos i totally adore...hm i dunno, voting isn't the most import thing anyway...just a thought though.

yea, 5 points would be a way better system. there are demos that are good, some are even better, but you have to give both a 'rulez'. not a very precise way of voting imho. well, i'm trying to vote for older demos, too, but it won't work out if only a few people do this with the current voting system :)

However.. Its not fair to the entire scene, just the ones who are registred at pouet, and thats not the entire scene.. The top10 etc will only say something about the pouet visitors, not the scene... That can never be changed

:) what about a simple top10 vote-sheet in each profile, you could update at your ease, and that even everybody could see? giving a "it rulez" just to vote for the prod is a bit odd.. as getting thousands of similar comments isn't the nirvana.

well couloir 14 is first on pouet, but actually it didn't end at the 1st place at vip3. so what ? everyone knows that charts really mean nothing, just play demos in parties on a big screen and hear the audience reaction to get an idea wether a demo is popular or not.

Yeah, I think the demo that should be charted number 1 is the one that was charted 1st at VIP 3... It did better than C14, so that means it's a better demo? hu??

#1 here doesn't mean it's the best demo... it simply means that most of the people reviewed it as "okay" so it's most likely to please a newcomer but sure you can prefer many other prods! and charts always meant nothing whatever they were about it's just an overall feeling and will never represent your personal opinions...

is it for other country people ? no? so make some advertising and say to all country sceners : go to pouet, it's THE only and the best demo review database
so perhaps, more different people will come and vote for others good prods

another problem is: some french mens go to pouet only to vote for their friends and for their prods, and never comment any other prods (no name here :] ). it's a true problem in the french scene, it's the 'name voting' and this thing exist too much in french demoparties. if you have lots of friends, you will have lots of vote, sad but true

in my opinion, i dont care the top ten, i just see the others mini charts sorted by platform (when you clic on the more link), and i open all sheets one by one and download all prods and see it, and comment all which runs on my computer, i never vote on pouet with 'i remember' comment! i see the prod before voting, and if it's shit i say it to prevent download for nothing

i think the idea for the favourite panel for each scener is good thing, but it must be validated each month because some people will fill it just one time, and the charts will be faked.

so be number one in the top ten on pouet is just 'having the more OK votes'
and an OK vote is the same having a 13/20 to 20/20
so 13/20 is not the best prod ever, but it's an OK symbol .']

Par contre, et j'y reviens, c'est pas parcequ'on manque de temps qu'une démo peut se permettre de manquer de coherence. Quand on modelise du décor au kilometre sans se préoccuper de l'ambiance, ben c'est dommage. Surtout quand il y a du boulot derriere. (et puis le logo en hi-poly pour faire du stencil buffer, c un poil abusé - optimiser les meshes c'est penser a ceux qui ont des ptites bécanes et tout ça patati patata...)

i like the charts as they are. they are simple. they are fast. they work quite well. they are a bit unfair, but all charts are unfair in some sence. there is name-voting, but most charts have more of it. they work because they are simple, they won't work better if you make them more complicated. if you like something, give it a thumb up, if you hate it, flame it. even it colour 14 is a pretty uninteresting demo, many people like it, and therefore it get's lot's of thumbs. that's ok, even if i don't understand it. and one thing is proven: a demo can become #1 very fast.
