Scientists discover: the scene is not dead.

skrebbel: And a lot of 4k demos have just one single effect as well. What was your point again ?
Considering the amount of effort (which is not relevant in the discussion, it's all about the "number of prods released"), well, it was probably a different kind of effort, but just the code in the boot loaders, loader, menus, and reset demos, is probably worth the effort spent in some recent demos. (And some of these mega demos have multi-effects screens as well.)

my point was that just because many people worked on it and it's very incoherent, it's not multiple demos.
so behind every door in the mainmenu, we essentially still see the same demo? hmm that's also a way of looking at it i guess ;)
@havoc,
I think we only have to release flybys/multiparts in future. when was the last release of a real megademo? for sure I won't code any demo sceen if it won't be for a megademo with mainmenu, as I miss those kind of demos. (Being sick of most flybys, multipart)

id be curious to see how many releases per year (or, how many compo placings in the top 3) were down to say the top 5 most productive groups in that year, though.
see, i suspect that while the number of releases may have stayed on a level, more of those releases are down to just a small number of very productive people/groups - especially at the top end. and that masks a general decline.

man should inforce asl info for each credit in every nfo so that we can compute stats about age, sex and location of sceners ;D
