Ok now name me one (non-comercial) party the last 10 years that supplied such an awesome service! (exept for Main#2 and #3 for performing artists =) ) Thats the spirit.
The display of the big screen / Grande Halle /
3 different modes:
1) Low resolution on the entire surface. This is the screen as defined : 89 pixels on the height and width 960 pixels on the width . The diodes are spaced 25cm horizontally and vertically in the direction of the slope. The screen in its entirety corresponds to the format of two screens 16 / 9 side by side.
2) High resolution over an area of 20m baseline. In this central area, the screen will
resolution of 178 pixels high by 320 pixels wide, ie twice the pixels in the height and width over the entire screen. The diodes are spaced 12.5 cm horizontally and vertically in the direction of the slope. The screen in its resolution is as high as 4 / 3.
3) High and low resolution at the same time, with image "in" the image. In this case we may for example have a high resolution image different that of the low resolution image in the image.

I don't get it: two 16/9 screens side by side have a 3.56 aspect ratio, whereas 960/89 gives 10.79. It's exactly the same problem as in
those specs, there's definitely something wrong with them.

yes it sounds wrong, but the pixels are not square pixels, and calculate that, this is a roof
pixel aspect ratio != screen aspect ratio in this case

Nope, still doesn't explain it. It does say that the pixels are square in the plane of the roof, so taking the slope into account should increase the aspect ratio even more (for example multiply it by sqrt(2) if the roof is tilted by 45°).
So, Main#4 doesn't allow Linux(Ubuntu) releases?
Sorry to be picky but the screen spec is still _very_ unclear to me. I strongly consider to use the whole screen but I won't because of the current spec.
If the aspect ratio is supposed to be 3.56 for the viewer (on the ground), how could it be higher (10.79) if we are in the air in front of the screen ? Even if the pixels are not squares it does not make sense.
If the pixels are not squares, because of the slope : what is the slope ? It could be useful for correcting perspective and aspect ratio for a better experience.
Some kind of scheme will definately help.
Also : how to display in 960x89 resolution ? Just open a window with that size and you'll do the cropping ?

Hey, soory but, it was general specs coming from the screen's architect and not from our tests specs for the compos.
Don't waste your time in speculation (interesting at all) and please, wait for the real display specifications on the big screen in coming days.
