New Demo Party in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia

Hi,
Imp thinking of hosting a graphics/demoscene party at my place of residence, I live about 150km from Melbourne in Bendigo, Australia, I’m posting this for 2 reasons.
1. Anyone interested in coming to a light type of party to watch demos and drink, and also share knowledge of the scene.
2. W#hat equipment is standard/expected for a demo party, an up to date windoz box, C++ runtimes, dot.net ??

There are two demoparties happening in Victoria already, did you come to either of them?
Syntax Party - Winter
Beach Party - Summer
Although because last years Syntax Party happened in spring (Nov), we will be delaying Beach Party until Autumn. So people have enough of a gap in between to get some productions done.
And Yes! An up-to-date windows box *is* necessary, you should have all the libraries, etc you mentioned. But with the local demoscene as it is, you should also have a collection of vintage Commodore machines. That is what we expect.
Are you planning on running compo's? Or just having a party with a bunch of sceners? I would LOVE to come out and have a couple of beers with you and the rest of the crew.
But if you were planning on running comps. then I would wonder if the local scene could support 3 parties!? Wouldn't it mean that there were fuck all entries at any of them? People would probably save themselves for syntax wich had some pretty cool prizes!

I hope Syntax continues to grow as the main party in Australia though the more is good.

Derbias - if you oraginse a demoparty / graphics party I'll be there mate!! anakiRob would probably hitch a ride with me (which leaves 3 more spots for anyone else?!) ... xernobyl, meanwhile, will be curled up in the corner because there is a spider that lives in my garage and constantly webs my wing mirrors.
Certainly come to Syntax in October! If you or any mates need places to stay just let the organisors know coz half of Syntax crew have houses you can crash at. Same with internationals. Get to melbs and we'll look after ya!

When I do international demoparties I take my eeePC running UAE / Linux, and my Vaio for it's graphics card and various music / gfx aps. I also pack a USB floppy disk drive and a box of disks containing some blanks and an Amiga tools disk. There will almost certainly be Amiga 1200's and 500's I can borrow for the rest ;-)
