do christians who commit suicide automatically go to hell?

category: general [glöplog]
Not much serious stuff in this thread. Surprise, surprise!

sir RICHARD kbab: I don't have an ansver to your original question. But I hope noone needs to find out by trying. I do not take lightly on this subject, as I have a friend at close range who is very "broken" and have tried to kill herself twice. She is not a christian, but I hope she will have guts one day to take the leap in faith and give herself to Jesus, and see her life change.

As it happens, her older brother, who now is a very very good friend of mine, became a christian about 1.5 years ago. He was also very "broken" and had been an alcoholic a large part of his life. Though, it was amazing to see how he week by week got stronger and more secure. He didn't join any detox program whatsoever. He has been sober for over 9 months now and is a different person in many ways. Now that's the power of Jesus Christ!

raimo: well, sort of. i hope this doesn't prevent any of us of having a beer at Breakpoint tho' :)

poi: if my "theory" is correct you can't flood hell because it doesn't exist :)

You can too. It's in Norway. I'm visiting this summer. I am. Really. No, really, I am.

So wait until winter to flood it.
becoming christian is a mental suicide.

superplek: More, more, more! :-) I'm guessing you want to hear more about my friends. Though, I don't want to talk too much at this (not so friendly) place.

But, I can tell you about a (stupid) experiment my friend pulled off when he had been sober for about 6 months. He wasn't well and had really trouble getting sleep. He was so fed up that he went and bought two bottles of wine (as "sleeping medicine" he said) as he used to get very tired after drinking. So he drank the wine (I don't know how much) but he said it tasted like SHIT, and it had no effect on him. "It was like drinking water." Normally he would get drunk after just one beer, which is normal for an alcohoic. He said "It was a total waste of money."
Credit where cretid is due: --> a loving God that has the power to restore broken lifes.

'but he said it tasted like SHIT, and it had no effect on him. "It was like drinking water."'

Drinking cool and fresh water is always cool. Other things (like Fanta, Cola, Wine, Beer and even Beer ;) make me sick after a while. I remember a time I got drunken with wine, then I was always sick of wine and I couldn't enjoy drinking for months. Now, even beer became disgusting for me! (My norwegish friends from Erasmus must not read this!!! ;). But I guess you were meaning it was like drinking water and had no effect, not it was as shit as water, sorry. (Then why did I wrote this paragraph anyways? ;)

"a loving God that has the power to restore broken lifes."
I hope he would restore my destroyed life for me too. But then again, perhaps God already knows that being miserable is a cool state of mind for me :)

i'm sorry, but that sounds quite exactly like those parodies of religious people :)

reed, don't mess with jesus powers, he might steal your hubcaps when you're sleeping! (and if you're really unlucky your carstereo aswell!)

dammit, I need to pick up dvd's of the fast show while here.

dammit.

Also, I would like Slayer "Jesus Saves" to stop running thru my head now. Damn you, Weyland Yutani!

reed, Okkie: I'm quite avare that it may sound like cliches (I do remember what I thought myself before I became a christian) and that I won't be considered "cool" when writing it. Though, that is of little consern to me as I see people with my own eyes getting free from severe depression and alcoholism.

mri, you make christianity sound like nothing but a last resort for hopeless losers :)

hey guys.. consider: is everything that sounds uncool bad or what??
Just alter your filter.. coolness is not everything.

fred, first of all, coolness kicks. secondly, you failed to notice how very few mindless 'antireligion boo christianity is for wussies'-style posts were made here, compared to most internet places where the topic gets discussed.

why does coolness kick?

just, it kicks butt. wait, are you coming to breakpoint? if so we should meet up so i can teach you all about coolness.

hah hah.. :-) No.. therefore I won't come..
So well then.. you deny to give a good answer.. if I studied a second I must have to the conclusion that your answer has to be cool again.. well.. then..

sir RICHARD kbab: The gospel about Jesus Christ is good new for bad people, and bad news for good people.

The part of Christianity what I like is being generous and honest to others just because. These two values seem to be inexistant these days...
(Take note that I'm NOT talking about the phenomenon people call "Catholicism" here. I'm Calvinist. Or so.)

mri, sure thing :)
notice i wasn't saying anything bad about christianity or such, just about the examples for its blessing that you gave :)

i never mentioned anything about stuff being cool or uncool, mri brought it up. i just stated my first impression :)

i have no problems with people who believe unless they persistently push their beliefs towards me personally, which fortunately happens seldom. (and which hasn't happened here, obviously.) that's of course the case with pushing other things as well, not just religion.

Hmmm... who could know Optimus has an Alcohol problem! Optimus, i think your attitude about drinking is somewhat wrong. It's better not to drink to get drunk. The only good way to drink is to enjoy drinking. Getting drunk is a positive side-effect!

Now back to the topic. Imagine i am a bastard operator, and to continue my carrer i need to go to hell. Do i have to become a christian beforehand or does a simple plain suicide suffice?

Ok, now getting serious. I really don't like to take the topic lightly. Since recently, i have a feeling that something bad might have happened to my beloved one. And if so, i need to commit a suicide, because i have promised that myself about ... 3 years ago or so. Now i would like to know that she's OK - definately not because of myself, but because i care for her - but i don't find a good way to find it out. Her friends are not talking to me about her state because she doesn't want them to. I don't want to call her else she gets a strong paranoia and might actually die of it. I'm really desperate, i don't know what to do. Oh how i wish i was an alcoholic!!! GRRRR!
