mmap versus MapViewOfFile versus your sister.

category: general [glöplog]

I see there's a windows alternative to mmap called MapViewOfFile. Is this fairly standard? Can I expect everyone to have this function? What do you use to mmap files in windows?

hexen: bs, the full line is:

"Client: Requires Windows XP, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows NT Workstation, Windows Me, Windows 98, or Windows 95."
"Server: Requires Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 Server, or Windows NT Server."

i.e. it works on any 32-bit Windows.

I could be wrong, but I think I've used it in the win32s days as well (e.g. the 32 bit mock-up for win3.11)

good to see evilpaul's finally lost it
sorry ryg. but that is not what microsoft said. even though it probably says different in those win32 api help files being distributed. but that's the good thing about screwing up here. someone will usually come back and correct you.
