grafx2 is back to life!

category: gfx [glöplog]
New builds:
windows : http://grafx2.googlecode.com/files/grafx2-svn797-win32.zip
mac os : http://grafx2.googlecode.com/files/grafx2-svn804-macosx.zip

There have been some changes to mouse handling. Tell us if it's fine. Some other bugs fixed :)
Works great as far as I can tell.
Keep it up!

Seems to work fine, good work :)

I've been using it constantly for the past 2 weeks or so. I never knew about it until recently. Great app! Keep up the good work.

This is the truth as far as I can tell.

One little thing maybe.. if you change the values in the picture size options you have to press Enter to affirm the changes.
Would be nice if changes would get accepted just by clicking outside the Inputfield.

The latest version works well, but I have a couple of more suggestions :)

1. When upgrading Grafx2 all settings are lost. I guess they are saved within the Application bundle on OS X. I think saving settings in ~/Library/Application Support would be a much nicer way

2. A feature to load a picture and adapt it to the current palette. If this feature is there somewhere, sorry for bothering :-)

Thanks again for this superb software!

I did it that way because there was (and maybe still are) some compatilbility problems between prefs files versions which made the application to hang at start.

evil: About palette adaptation, you can do it this way:
- Open an image with the right palette
- Switch to the spare page (tab)
- Load the image you want to adapt
- Switch back to first image (tab)
- Open the 'copy to spare' menu (shift-tab)
- Choose 'palette and remap'

hitch: ok, it's a workaround for other parsing issues then :/ Oh well what is a few minutes setup once a week when new versions arrive. Nothing major.

yriz: thanks for the tip - it is helpful for speeding up some palette adjustmens (instead of sorting, moving, inverting for several files). The way you describe reminds a bit of Crackart on the ST, only there you have ten workscreens instead of two :-)

Oh, moar workscreens! please! :D
(But don't you dare to implement layers!)

Keep up the good work <3
Sorry if it already has been asked, but (I'm lazy and don't want to search in the thread), will there be a GNU/Linux port ? Or is the Win32 version wine-compliant ?
Anyway, great to see this great software being maintained :)

It compiles fine under linux since I started maintaining it. And it runs fine too :)
You can even aptitude or synaptic it in debian and ubuntu (however the version in their repositories is slightly out of date and has some more bugs than what you get by compiling yourself)

Easy to compile :
Quote:

mkdir grafx2
cd grafx2
wget http://grafx2.googlecode.com/files/grafx2-svn823-src.tgz
tar xvf grafx2-svn823-src.tgz
make
make install

We won't provide binaries on the official homepage as we can't do that for all distros in the world.
http://grafx2.googlecode.com/files/grafx2-svn845-nottf-gp2x.zip
The gp2x version was not updated since the last official release. Here it is with an heavily bugfixed joystick system and should be useable... the previous versions for gp2x weren't :). This is the final 2.0 release. If someone with an f200 could test if the touchscrenn works, it'd be nice.

Here is a test release for windows:
http://grafx2.googlecode.com/files/grafx2-svn823-win32.zip
This is not the final release, there are some little bugs left. But we would like everyone to test it out to be sure we release a perfect 2.0 final version before starting to work on 2.1.
great ! I will just apt-get it then :)

Herm well actually it doesn't seem to be in Ubuntu.
But yes, it compiles fine from the sources.

If I can just add a suggestion : the source package uncompresses in the current directory instead of creating one... quite unusual and a bit annoying :(

Fixed source archive: http://grafx2.googlecode.com/files/grafx2-2.0.858-src.tgz
gp2x and macosX builds now updated too.
Hello !
We are now working on the 2.1 release.
http://grafx2.googlecode.com/files/grafx2-2.1wip.891-win32.zip
We have added a skin selector and some more GUI fonts, and we also cleaned up some parts of the code. Nothing really new drawing-wise, but well, we're working on it ;)

Enjoy the new skin by Ilkkse, he did a great work to make the GUI look a bit more fresh :)
2.1wip compiled for OS4 now available from the grafx2 page.

Very nice!

btw, iLKke, not Ilkkse. :D

fixed :)

Also, latest svn version allows to draw isometric-pixelart lines when holding shift, not only vertical, horizontal and 45° lines. But I think most of the demopixellers don't really care about isometric drawing... So there is no build of it except the os4 version by xeron for now.

@Xeron: mh... the last build you did before was 2.0b98. Will you build a 2.0 final release or let the amiga users choose between two sets of bugs ? There is a sourcearchive of 2.0 on the website, and there is also an svn branch to get the source. We are still updating them as we encounter bugs, until 2.1final is released.
What SVN revision should i checkout for 2.0 stable?

oh wait. doesn't matter. i'll download the src archive.
