haben über 55.000 Personen unterzeichnet.

Sehr interessant zu diesem Thema ist ein Artikel der c't.

Ich denke, dass dieses Gesetz der staatlichen Zensur alle Tore
öffnen kann (und wird) und bin deshalb der Meinung, dass man
diese Petition unterzeichnen sollte.

Maybe it would be cool to tell about what this petition is all about (yes, I acn read german, but your above text doesn't really tell anything)

das wird in dieser form doch eh zerfallen. egal ob mit oder ohne petition... lächerlich das ganze.

This petition is about stopping a draft bill that would (and now read carefully) instantiate a country wide web filtering and censoring infrastructure. There would be a DNS "blacklist" that's administered by exactly one agency (the Bundeskriminalamt) and kept secret to everyone else. Disclosure or even reading that list would be illegal, and the Bundeskriminalamt would not be answerable to any other instance.

If you'd hit this blacklist, you'd see a page with a big STOP sign instead, and your IP will be logged and forwarded to the authorities (which is, oops, also the Bundeskriminalamt) for criminal prosecution.

I think we can all agree that this HAS to be stopped.

(Oh, the official reasoning is blocking child porn, but we all know a) how well DNS blocking will work, b) that the CP scene OF COURSE uses the public parts of the www, and c) that such an universal instrument of power would NEVER be abused for anything else, like blocking foreign sites that might violate German law, being a vehicle for the music and film industry to uphold their outdated business models, or oppressing inconvenient opinions. Noooo, never. THINK OF THE CHILDREN, godverdomme!)

though it is a little different here.. in the name of saving those pathetic artists which represent the "french cultural exception", they put a massive filtering of packets on.. and even if you download linux legally on a p2p your ip will be forwarded to authorities.. also you have to install a governement trojan to prove your "good will". the program will scan your whole hdd and monitor all your emails, and send info to the governement.

we have to fight against this.

Didn't the BKA wanted to do something with trojan too ?

kb: Similar systen is already in place in Finland. They already used it to block the site of a freedom of speech and internet rights activists who published the list of censored addresses (most of which are completely legal porn and in some cases even have nothing to do with anything explicit).

Preacher means lapsiporno.info. The funny thing, although the web page is 100% legal and promotes freedom of speech (which I personally endorse at all costs) the name of the site means "child porn". And this is the only idiotic reason behind some ISPs blocking the access to the site... Which doesn't make any sense. On the other hand, so far that list has been mostly occupied by completely legal websites, or the ruling keskusta's political opponents.

Wrong. The reason, according to police, is that it contains a list of domains that are child pornography (according to the police), ie. it facilitates the spreading of child pornography.. What's even more disturbing is that many sites that come up on the first page on google if you search for "gay porn" are on the list. Since it's practically impossible that such prominent sites would contain any CP, the reason most likely is that someone in the Finnish police force feels like imposing his/her morals on others, in an illegal manner.



Decipher is thankfully only kidding here, but our current right-wing government is indeed showing really scary signs of leaning towards fascism. The road to a police state is long and slippery, but we're well on our way.

And that means we're all on that way.. I ever thought to be german prevents from being in a police state again.. But could be that they will prove that wrong.. :(

mad: I thought of touching it. The nation of Germany has once witnessed what can come from a police-state with unfavorably biased attitudes towards certain aspects. But I think it really is a huge swelling already and needs no further scratching.

Preacher: Thanks for rectifying my statement, also that "..." at the end kinda meant "bullshit". So yeah it's as obvious as the sky is blue that someone at the police office is trying to cover up his dose of "this is immoral, Jesus says so.". I have always believed that Finland is a nation with a Scandinavian concept upon / approach towards freedom issues. I am shivering to see such things happen. Maybe Finland is really that old-headed nation my friend Max (who himself is Finnish) was mumbling about. :/

Who says Scandinavian countries are "free"? The defining characteristic is socialism, not liberalism. It'd be surprising if there were no scandals like this.

Now, I really begin to worry about that web-filtering obsession, seems to spread :/
At the very beginning it started like this here in France, filtering CP. A friend of mine told me "you'll se, in less than a week music companies will ask for a filtering for their interests". The result : HADOPI has been voted in Parliament yesterday.

You german people (and everyone, in fact) sould battle as hard as you could against such things.

@hello: The woman who startet the petition said in an interview that she don’t believe that the petition will stop the new law. But we will set an example and (what is the most important thing) the politicians will know there are a lot of people (currently almost 60.000, after 5 days) who have a certain opinion about this law and we are their potential voters in the next election. Because the results of our last elections came to a close run, 60.000 voters are important to any politician.

even though there's plenty of paranoia involved, just picture the following scenery to make things a bit more clear: there's someone from germany loading up the the random image thread and surprisingly ends up retrieving an image that has been posted by some random stereohawk-type like person. [..]
that is what may get us on the list of potential criminals - if we want it or not, if we planned to see that image or not, just by clicking a link. things are funny, right? :)
