Scream Tracker 3

Does anyone still use ST3?

I am now looking at it with DosBox and I think it's such a good piece of software, with so much detail and works so flawlessly. Plus, the amount of features it has can really leave you exploring it for days. Today one might think you'd need a team of 70 programmers to write this, but back in the days it somehow worked with one great coder doing his thing.

ST3 was the first music program I saw in my life. Me and my friend got it from another guy with 50 samples. At that time we thought that would be enough for our whole lives - wow, 50 samples! We didn't know how to operate it and made lots of mistakes, very silly and funny, looking back today. Like, we didn't know that there are patterns and were searching for a way to increase the number of rows. In our first session we couldn't find anything so eventually we did a lame thing: we recorded a pattern to tape, then pressed 'pause', then changed the pattern, recorded this to tape, etc.

Pretty soon we switched to the then popular FT2 and that's when our experience started to allow us to produce smth nice sounding. But to this day I haven't made a decent tune with ST3 itself. Trying today, got some crap, though a bit better than previous attempts. Experience is adding up!
Fast Tracker II was much better!

(Oh wow, I haven't had this discussion in what, 15 years?)

I don't want to compare FT2 and ST3. Perhaps, FT2 was better technically. I mean, the xm format certainly was. But this is not the point, I just like ST3 anyway. And I like the feel and look of ST3.
Trust me, you will LOVE Impulse Tracker 3!

I did try Impulse Tracker but for some unknown and absolutely unreasonable reason I did not like it that much. Maybe my all time fascination with Scream Tracker 3 comes from a nostalgic feeling, remembering times when me and my friend were just starting out and the whole world of music was in front of us, so promising and new.
This thread is now about boobs.

You can actually use ST3 (or any other tracker for that matter) to draw boobs. With notes.
This thread is about boobs and boobs only.
oh fuck off already...

The only cool thing about st3 was the adlib feature, that was used by 2 or 3 tunes in total. :)
