Breakpoint 2009 - Everything is under control

category: parties [glöplog]
Trenox: I'll second your comment about the showing procedure in the gfx compos, would be better with "final - stages - final, zoom in."

Oh and I came over your picture, you might want to wipe it down ;)

hmm, btw. what will happen with the wolverine entries, will they be spread or not?

They will be spread.

Nosfe: Did you give Johann your contact details? If not, please mail them to me so they can send you your prizes.

i did enter my contact details in the forms when submitting partynet, and thought that was enough. but oh well, i'll mail them too.

I second all statements regarding the superbness of this party!

Do anyone have the contact details for "Greg"(?) who's planning on doing a demo vs theatre thing in Munich. I'm sure we exchanged them but they somehow got lost..

Yes, actually, it might be cool to post the 'looking for people to work' stuff again somewhere, as at least one person was asking me about working in Finland. Since I know no one hiring here, but there were people hiring people... who were at BP... ya know.

Especially since I want to see that Ballet/Faust/live dancing bit done up. Especially if it would involve Jeenio as well. I mean how cool would that be?
scamp: i did give johann nosfes contact details, and entering them to the partynet is indeed enough. :)

oh and <3 bonzaj for the vodka ;)
(translating a message from the graphics team)
@ trenox&farfar:
we had always been doing it the "final - steps - final" way.
This year we had discussed whether this is always the best approach, since sometimes the dramatic effect might be better to first only see the development from scratch including large scale changes (there is no "one size fits all" solution here, since every artist uses a different approach).
Of course we can revert to showing the final version at the beginning and the end, however we would be surprised if that changed voting behavior - everyone is able to recognize the final version since it's being shown for a longer time.

oh and <3 to fei for the vodka (:
oh and <3 orbiter for the vodka as well :D
that was one great party! the "problem" with breakpoint nowadays is it's just too much damn fun to enjoy the party to want to sit inside working on something. especially with weather like that. i guess we all have to learn the discipline to finish stuff beforehand. :)
so glad to hear that bp10 is happening though. we always assume we can say "see you next year" and it was kindof a shock to hear it might not always be the case.

Breakpoint 2009 was possibly the best party I ever attended! Massive respect to the organizers!

I know it might not be possible, but I wish the date of the party would be always around this time of the year when it's already warm in Germany.

The "greg" guy from Munich I believe was not involved in the Faust/Ballet thing - this was another, similar thing. (?)

This would also allow the people who spend easter in other ways (either with family or church) to attend . But of course, easter is a tradition already and having a long party during a "proper" holiday is easier for those who have problems getting days off work.

BTW: Did all of the "vacant" demosceners find groups to join?

If not...could someone forward me the list with handles/profession/email?

What everyone said. Possibly the Best Breakpoint Evvar for me... even the PC demo compo was no disappointment, because what it was missing in big-name winner demos it more than made up for in enthusiasm and awesome work from the newcomers and non-superstars.

Sure - I can see what you were trying to do there (and kudos for trying something new), but as a compo viewer, the dramatic effect was a bit overshadowed by "Hmm, is this the screen I'm supposed to be judging? *wait* oh. no. What about this one? *wait* *wait* *wait* Yes, I guess so. Well, it's... oh, it's gone now."

@Preacher: Brainstorm...the monster group in terms of bodycount! :D

Raven: Yes but we don't have that many active coders! I am swamped in demo ideas and soundtracks.. imagine having all the great art and concepts shoved at you with absolutely no way to take up all those projects..
added on the 2009-04-15 14:56:43 by Preacher Preacher
that would be my brain.
@Preacher: We could found a club! ;) I have quite some designs for complete demos lying around...but we only have two really active coders...so many ideas and so few coders...so...let's divide the vacant guys... :D
