I'm currently checking how practical that would be for me to come to Outline. I can get a flight to Düsseldorf, then I suppose I need to get a train to the Netherlands. Getting to Eindhoven seems quite easy and quick (couple of hours apparently). But then I'm not sure... How can I get from Eindhoven to Eersel? Are there regular buses? Or do you plan to come and pick up people stranded in Eindhoven? :)

exocet: yes we do plan to provide a pickup service, but my knowledge of the area is so outdated i'm slightly reluctant to confirm eindhoven main railway station as pickup location. perhaps another station is closer by? (skrebbel, feel free to fill us in here :))

worst case scenario, we have already decided we will pick up ppl from eindhoven airport, that's 20 minutes by bus from the main railway station. a ticket should cost no more than 3euro.

havoc: ok, good. A 20 minute ride to the airport for the pickup seems perfectly doable :)

Actually, getting to Eersel is not very difficult: there is a bus, line 150, which goes from Eindhoven train station to Eersel every half hour (between 8:23 and 0:09, so that's a reasonable margin), which takes about 35 minutes. From there it's either a 2.5km walk (down a single road), or we pick you up from the bus stop, which ever you prefer. As this bus stop is significantly closer to the partyplace than the airport, we'd prefer you take this option instead. I'll update the site with references to a time table and all that, hopefully before I leave for breakpoint.

If outside "sane" travelling times, i.e. if you're arriving in the middle of the night or very early, then we'll probably manage doing a pickup from Eindhoven train station, but otherwise we'd prefer you take the bus to Eersel :-)

carbon: there is no train station in eersel, but no worries, we'll be picking ppl up at the airport.

Well I've found that a 401 bus from the airport goes to Eindhoven Central where one could get the 150 bus to Eersel then a walk down Stokkelen until the junction with Lage Heide then a little bit more and it should be the right place.

sadly i have to inform you that streaming isn't part of our budget so there won't be any streaming, in fact, we'd be rocking if there would be internet at all :D

Well, you're not working in favor of the odds of getting to know people at Outline (which I can wholeheartedly recommend, ofcourse) if you won't come in the first place, so enough of that banter already. There's nothing but good folk!

Second, a thesis on fucking ought to be something you can bluff your way through!

we'll have a LAN (for the compo system amongst things) and probably some narrow-band internet access, but video streaming is not foreseen.

spinor, if you're in the area, maybe just consider dropping by for a day or so! :-)

i'll be happy to introduce you to some folks who can in turn introduce you to some more folks in turn. oh and if your thesis presentation isn't 90% in order around the start of outline, you'll be in trouble making it at all anyway :-)

Carbon, your research is entirely correct, that's a perfectly fine way to travel (i'm impressed!). As havoc stated, we offer pickup services from the airport for people who come in my plane, but you're most welcome to do the bus+walk thing if you prefer as well, of course :-)

I'm guessing in total from entering the bus on the airport until arriving at outline it'd take about 1:30 or so, though - 20 + 30 minutes by bus, plus 2.5-ish km walk, plus some waiting time. But it's up to you! :-)
