Blending on modern hardware?
category: general [glöplog]
I'm curious. If I want some screen space effects that could happen to use blending should I blend or use textures and do the blending operations in the shader if possible?
Ok, I shut up because someone told me to do so.
if you can use the blending unit, use it; ping-ponging with textures has a notable overhead, while blending is usually built into the pixel write logic, so the computation is virtually for free (you still need the extra bandwidth though).
Thank you.

be an alpha male
alpha males don't blend very good.
Blending on modem hardware? wtf! Still, it'll be a mind-blowing wild if you pull it off!
will it blend?
Not if it is mine it won't. But I'll gladly make you all a milkshake.

will it de-blend?
