Social networking sites.
category: general [glöplog]
next to that, if you ask someone on a semiregular basis 'how's things?' via email, msn, skype whatever, you're at least pretty sure that person cuts the crap :P
"Facebook is useless."

to be serious: it's better with [social networking] it than without the possibility : individuals are back in the center of our societies instead of simple consumerists / official numbers.
ah, but that is where you are most mistaken.
Online demo databases.
They fucking suck. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer a fucking 5,25" floppy in the mail. Or even better, a damn visitor with a diskbox full of the latest stuff.
Am I the only one?

sex is a good option
Sex.
It fucking sucks. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer parthenogenesis. Or even better, binary fission.

@mermaid: Pouet killed the swapper star! (Faked stamps rules, by the way!)
Parthenogenesis. That recall me about nice aphids and, of course...
Tom was my friend back then when I didn't have any.
...nothing wrong with social networking websites, just another communication method. If you want to hate on one, take Skype. They won't delete your account there if you ask them to do so.

if those sites thought me one thing: NEVER go out with a girl that knows how to use photoshop. NEVER.
*teached me :S
*Taught!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a myspace music account, but I don't use it and I'm close to deleting it (I don't get any visitors from there anyway, and it's only competing with my own site's google rank anyways). I'm not there for friends, I only registered there because my brother told me that you can easily make your music public there. Screw that. The only social networking site I use is last.fm, and then again not really for the friends thing. It's good to have an online playlist if you easily forget what you've listened to an hour ago. :P

And Facebook will?
I don't really like the microblogging trend (I mean : broadcasting your day to day (private) life to all your "friends" or the whole Internet).
But this is only one side of the social networks.
Facebook can be great as an address book, as a way to organize events, to share photos, etc...
In the end it's just a tool (like phone, mail, instant messaging, ...), you use it the way you like it. I think you can sign up to facebook AND keeping your privacy quite safe. They will have you contact list but it's the same with hotmail/gmail/yahoo/msn & co.

twitter can be used to broadcast rough basic information almost in real time and at no cost! and not only what you've eaten at your breakfast.
it's like a free reuters system for every wannabe journalist :p

Oh yeah, the killing spree here in Germany two weeks ago just proved how WELL you can use it for professional journalis...
Zest: twitter seems to be crafted especially for you !
i wonder if optimus has a twitter account and if he manages to stay under 140 chars
I wonder if anyone managed to EXCEED the 140 chars in one message yet. :P
it happened to me a few times :(
Oh the irony of posting a blog-like text on Pouet about how he hates Facebook.
