I somewhat agree with inopia ( btw : we have not herad from arrdbei for quite a long time now ) . It must be hard to be a newbie in the scene nowdays.
BUT : there are good new groups : Outracks; Portal Process... and so

I totally agree with inopia. Fuck the quality of products, a real demoscener should smile while watching a very-yes-ugly production, and it has to remind him of the fun he had while making those simple prods.
I think the real artistic demosceners with superskills, still can enjoy making and watching 'ugly' stuff.

Being a musician from the heart, I know their is not 'one' right path/way finding your 'true' musicstyle. For example : Jazzmusicians still enjoy watching/listening to the 'ugly' stuff they teach their pupils, and they still like to listen elvis presley. An artistic person knows that his own creativity grows while observing the 'proces' pupils. Maybe those negative comments could seperate the artists from the 'brainless followers'.

I vote for Inopia. "we" loose the talentet and semi-interested to the gamers with that "elite only" attitude. I would like to gather atleast 100 active (productive) danish people to the parties. but I just not possible, maybe I should "reboot" the tbc demoscene propaganda tour :) ..which never got startet :)

okay.. is it not as simple as I wrote it. I dont want 400 werkzeug-using-groups or the completely helpless people... just more interested people with the passion for compeating at partier with the crappy things they make. just like I do :)

the short-short version: people have been mean to each other in the past and the world didn't end. crap is still crap. say what you mean (but try not to bash so hard, if possible)

the rant-version: i'm all for more demosceners (and anyone that knows me know this to be true), but the day people are not "allowed" to say that something that sucks sucks, it's a sad day for the demoscene. sure, you can word yourself a little less harsh if you *know* it's a first release, but apart from that it's more important to be honest with yourself and say what you mean instead of a scene filled with fake wannabies exchanging false pleasantries and living under the impression that as long as your crap isn't much better or worse than any others crap, everything is fine and dandy.

btw; i don't think i've ever experienced a scene more filled with hatred and flaming than the early amiga/pc-scene, and hey.. i think we can all agree on that it worked out pretty well for the most part.

nonconstructive criticism does nothing more than make the critic look like a wanker, so please do whine on :)

oh, and i vote for cheesy as president, he is my last demoscene hero, apart from Ile
