Why didn't you like it? To like the documentary doesn't mean you need to like the subject.

The subject is kinda interesting. The story tho is quite dumb. The documentary is nice, kept my attention. But, I guess I missed more action, missed more gameplay. And I don't think the whole subject deserves a documentary. It's more an advertising for that (non user-friendly) website for game records than anything else.

So all in all, instead of recomend the documentary I would quickly explain to someone the plot but that's it.

What? The people of that website weren't presented very positively so I don't think it was an advertisment. They seemed to have very narrow minds and that was part of the fun of the documentary. They were kind of portrayed as the "bad guys", like Billy :)

The documentary most certainly wasn't about the games, so yeah, if you expect gameplay you are at the wrong place. I would not have liked it if it was about the games itself because I couldn't care less.

I bet you can make a documentary like this at every hobby club. It was more about the narrow mindedness of people than about gaming.

tiago: unfortunally, slumdog will win oscars due to political correctness I suppose... and that sucks because the movie isn't THAT good IMO. The wrestler is damn good this year tho.

Rob: My point is that I know that in any society there is that kind of situations. People trying to protect their pride/posesions/achievemtns, disrespecting other people's while at it. I didn't need to watch a documentary about it, I (and everyone) bear with that in a daily basis. In fact, I negated my attention to that side of the doc while watching it and tried to concentrate on the perseverance (positiveness) point of it. That's why I said the story was dumb and that I would have prefer a bit more of action, it's 'The King of Kong', not 'Yet another social unfair situation'.

If you found the documentary interesting... move to Spain and socialise with any midage woman, you'll be entertained about the unfairness in their lives for the rest of your (or her life).

Oh and yes, it's a clear advertising about Twin Galaxies, as I'm know aware of that website and their purpose, I wasn't aware before watching the movie.

I just liked the doc and you didn't. I'm not the only one who liked it.

You misunderstood me. I also found it enjoyable, it kept me entertained. BUT, this is the thread of 'movies you must see before you die', so what I said on my first comment was that I didn't found it had the level to be in this topic (compared to the rest of movies on it). But that's just IMHO.

The wrestler was cool. But I have to see a proper version someday, we're did the book at work and we saw a non-final version, (you know with all the timers and everything). Even with that distraction, was cool.
